Systems and methods for monitoring physiological monitoring systems are described herein. A communication interface module can be configured to receive from a physiological monitoring system first data based on a snapshot taken of a status of the physiological monitoring system at a first time. A memory module can be configured to store the first data and a baseline associated with the physiological monitoring system. A processor module can be configured to compare the first data with the baseline and to generate a notification if the first data deviates from the baseline by a predetermined amount. A display module can be configured to display a physical location of a plurality of physiological monitoring systems and display the notification.

Systems and methods for monitoring a patient health network

Medical monitoring systems and methods are disclosed. A medical monitoring system can receive physiological parameter data and first physiological parameter alarm data from a plurality of patients. The first physiological parameter alarm data can be indicative of alarm conditions experienced by the plurality of patients. The alarm conditions can have been detected based upon first alarm criteria. The system can also generate second physiological parameter alarm data using a processor. The second physiological parameter alarm data can be indicative of simulated alarm conditions, which can be detected based upon a second alarm criteria. The system can compare the first and second physiological parameter alarm data using a processor.

Embodiments are disclosed that enable an electronic device to instruct as user how to user one or more noninvasive sensors to measure one or more physiological parameters of a patient. Medical monitoring systems and methods for reducing the frequency of notifications of transient alarms are disclosed. A medical monitoring system can collect a signal representative of the physiological condition of a patient and can determine a physiological parameter using the collected signal. The medical monitoring system can detect an alarm condition for the physiological parameter. The medical monitoring system can then delay notification of the alarm condition until it persists for a predetermined alarm notification delay time.

Physiological parameter alarm delay

A method of reducing nuisance alarms for a physiological parameter at a specific care unit by determining an alarm threshold optimized for the care unit, the care unit including a plurality of patients being monitored for the physiological parameter. Measured physiological parameters for the plurality of patients is measured and provided to a threshold recommendation system. The threshold recommendation system determines a recommended parameter specific alarm threshold value calculated to reduce false alarms by determining how many alarms are generated at each of a range of threshold values and choosing a threshold value from the range of threshold values that reduces a number of false alarms without unacceptably increasing missed true alarms for said patient measurements.

A method of reducing nuisance alarms from physiological parameter monitors by determining an alarm threshold adapted to a specific care unit, the patient care unit including a plurality of patients being monitored for the physiological parameter. The method includes analyzing physiological parameter measurements from the care unit to determine a number of alarm events indicated as a function of changing alarm criteria and providing an indication of a change in alarm threshold settings adapted to the care unit that reduces a plurality of false alarms without unacceptably increasing missed true alarms, the indication useable by a care provider facility to program alarm threshold settings in the patient care unit.

A system configured to reduce a frequency of alarms from a physiological monitoring system including a physiological sensor configured to detect signals representative of a physiological condition of a patient and a processor configured to receive the detected signals, determine a physiological parameter of the patient, detect an alarm condition and delay a notification of the alarm condition until a predetermined alarm delay period has elapsed.
