A method for testing a seal of a part that includes an electrolyte of an electrochemical cell, the method including: forming a closed cavity delimited by a first outer surface of the part including the electrolyte to be tested; contacting a second outer surface of the part, opposite the first surface, with a first fluid; circulating a second fluid, separate from the first fluid, through the closed cavity between an inlet and an outlet of this cavity; and analyzing the fluid extracted via the outlet of the cavity, to detect possible presence of the first fluid.

Probe and process for measuring the remanent field (R) of a geological formation. A measurement is made of the magnetic field (B+I1+R1) along the axis of the geomagnetic field using a scalar magnetometer, followed by a vector measurement of the resultant magnetic field (Bp+Ip+R3) projected onto an invariable measurement axis. With the aid of the calculated values of the geomagnetic field (B) and the magnetic susceptibility field (I), it is in particular possible to calculate a component (S) of the remanent magnetic field (R) perpendicular to the geomagnetic field (B) and determine if the cancellation of the component of the field (R1) along this axis is due to a tilting of the magnetic pole in history or a local reduction of the remanent magnetization.

A method and device for detecting inversions of the earth's magnetic field by taking measurements in a drill shaft. The device includes a first probe used to measure the magnetic induction B.sub.1 during its movement in the shaft, a sensor to measure magnetic induction B.sub.2 on the surface of the ground at a stationary point at the same time as B.sub.1 is measured, a second probe to measure magnetic susceptibility X of the rocks as it moves through the shaft, and a data-recording and data-processing unit. The data-recording and data-processing unit further includes a device for calculating a value of B.sub.1 -B.sub.2, filtering the calculated value to isolate the induction fraction B.sub.L, which is only composed of a component B.sub.I resulting from an induced magnetization, and the component B.sub.R resulting from the residual magnetization. The induction B.sub.I based on the induction B.sub.1 in the shaft and on the magnetic susceptibility X can be calculated.

Apparatus for measuring the residual magnetization vector in cylindrical coordinates of a geological core sample. It comprises a carriage carrying a solenoid made to longitudinally vibrate for determining the longitudinal component of the vector and ferromagnetic transducers which determine the radial component and the phase of the radial component of the vector by rotating the core sample.
