A method for acquiring seismic data comprises operating a seismic vessel towing at least one of a seismic streamer with a plurality of seismic sensors and a seismic source. The inline distance between the vessel and one or more other vessels is adjusted according to a predefined function, where the seismic vessels travel along offset seismic acquisition lines, by increasing and reducing the in-line distance during the acquisition of the seismic data.

Embodiments of using known source locations in seismic data processing are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of locating a seismic event includes receiving location information for a plurality of known source events proximate the seismic event, and determining an estimated location of the seismic event using a relative locator constrained by the location information for the plurality of known source events.

Methods and systems for using known source events in seismic data processing

Methods, apparatuses, and systems are disclosed that reduce seismic noise. In one embodiment, a method of processing seismic data includes accessing seismic data representative of a plurality of seismic input traces acquired by one or more seismic sensors. The method also includes stacking the plurality of seismic input traces into a stacked trace. The method also includes generating, utilizing at least one processor unit, a function of similarity between at least two of the plurality of seismic input traces. The method also includes scaling at least one of the seismic input traces or the stacked trace with the function of similarity.

Method and apparatus for seismic noise reduction

Microseismic mapping using buried arrays with the integration of passive and active seismic surveys provides enhanced microseismic mapping results. The system is initially set up by recording seismic data with the buried array installation while shooting a significant portion of the 3D surface seismic survey. A time domain switching analog-to-digital converter apparatus and methods of utilizing the same. In one implementation, the converter apparatus comprises a carrier signal source, and at least one reference source. The carrier signal is summed with the input signal and the summed modulated signal is fed to a comparator circuit. The comparator is configured detects crossings of the reference level by the modulated waveform thereby generating trigger events. The time period between consecutive trigger events is used to obtain modulated signal deviation due to the input signal thus enabling input signal measurement. Control of the carrier oscillation amplitude and frequency enables real time adjustment of the converter dynamic range and resolution. The use of additional reference signal levels increases sensor frequency response and accuracy. A dual channel converter apparatus enables estimation and removal of common mode noise, thereby improving signal conversion accuracy.
