A method of fabricating a transparent and birefringent mineral solid thin layer comprises the following steps: a) preparing a colloidal solution constituted by anisotropic mineral nanoparticles in suspension in a dispersion liquid; b) depositing the colloidal solution on a surface of a substrate by spreading as a thin layer while applying directional shear stress tangentially to the surface of the substrate so as to deposit the colloidal solution as a liquid thin layer on the surface of the substrate, the value of the shear stress and the concentration of mineral nanoparticles in the colloidal solution being determined in such a manner as to cause the anisotropic mineral nanoparticles to be aligned along the direction of the shear stress tangential to the surface of the substrate; and c) drying the liquid thin layer by evaporating the dispersion liquid.

The invention is directed to a spin-polarized electron injector using a semiconductor tip, in which tip the injected electrons are photocreated by a circularly polarized light excitation incident on the rear of the tip. This tip is supported by a transparent lever or cantilever and undergoes a surface treatment for the purpose of removing the surface oxide layer, to prevent said layer from reforming and to improve the proportion of injected electrons.

The invention generally concerns a method involving emitting polarization light waves through an aperture with a dimension of maximum size lower than or equal to 100 nm, wherein the aperture is circumferentially bound by an opaque area that prevents the light waves from being propagated outside the aperture during use, and wherein the emitted polarization light waves (1) contact a material layer comprising a photosensitive compound whose surface is located at a distance lower than 100 nm from said aperture, and (2) induce a topographic modification of the material layer. In this manner, a stable structure is printed in relief in the material layer without requiring any additional development step. The invention is applicable, in certain embodiments, to ophthalmic optics.
