The optical filter device comprises a stack of thin layers exhibiting a sequences h and g which defines a fractal organization. This device makes it possible to obtain spectrum lines which are extremely fine and very well resolved.

Electromagnetic filter device

The invention relates in particular to polarizing light whose angle of incidence may vary substantially, e.g. over .+-.10.degree.. A polarizing stack (22) constituted by dielectric layers (30, 31, 32, 33, 34, . . . ) is formed on an oblique face (4). It is in the form of a repetitive sucession of symmetrical sequences (30, 31, 40) each constituted by two half-thickness low refractive index layers (30, 40) on either side of a high refracture index layer (31). The invention is particularly applicable to polarizing the light emitted by a semiconductor laser.

Dielectric layer polarizer

A multidielectric mirror, in particular for the mid infrared, in which the last optical layer of a multidielectric stack is constituted by a composite layer including a thin protective surface layer of a material of amorphous structure together with a high index and very low absorption dielectric layer, with the thicknesses of these two layers being designed to obtain maximum reflectance given the indices of these materials. The protective layer is preferably made of amorphous hydrogenated silicon. The invention is applicable, in particular, to making carbon dioxide power lasers.
