A device for positioning and locking rods, pins or wires, particularly for an external fixator in the field of orthopaedics is provided. The device comprises two jaw faces and a tightening assembly exhibiting a connecting element secured to a tightening member, the assembly allowing the jaws to form at least one opening exhibiting at least one cavity in the form of a gripping jaw allowing a hoop, a rod, a pin or a wire to be clipped by pressure against the action of an elastic member keeping the device in position prior to the locking action which is performed using the tightening member.

Positioning and locking device

An articulation element for the relative positioning of fixation bars or bone pins of an external fixator includes a plurality of pairs of jaws. The jaws have on their adjacent faces grooves which form a passage intended to receive a bar or a pin. A spring is interposed between the pairs of jaws. The grooves which form the passage are positioned and arranged so as to have an external opening allowing the bar or bone pin to be snapped in by pressure on it, from the opening of the jaw into the passage, against the spring force which presses the adjacent faces of the haws against one another. This force holds the articulation element on the bars or pins before locking of the articulation by means of a clamping shaft.

External fixation device

A reducing apparatus allows each displacement which has been effected to be analyzed and precisely measured. It includes three telescopic bars disposed along the axes x, y and z, respectively, of an orthonormal system, and connected to one another by joining pieces which are movable in relation to the telescopic bars. An angled arm is provided whose ends are formed by two pivoting discs which are disposed in perpendicular planes, these discs permitting the rotation about the axes y and z. Also provided is an adjustable circular sector made up of an arc and a mobile carriage which are intended to effect the rotations about the axis x.

Fracture reducing apparatus

An external fixator including at least two groups of pins inserted respectively on either side of the fracture. Two vices are used for securing the pins to two hinge elements. The hinge elements are used to connect and orient the vices in relation to an external immobilizing rod which extends parallel to the bone. Each vice includes a clamping jaw and a bar intended to connect to one of the hinge elements.

External fixator

This force holds the articulation element on the bars or pins before locking of the articulation by the tightening of a clamping shaft.

By virtue of its modular construction, this external fixator makes it possible to position the pins (21 to 25) in the bone fragments (11 to 13) taking account of anatomical criteria. The pins are at least indirectly integral with universal joints (36 to 38) with balls (46 to 48) permitting the orientation of the pins relative to connecting bars 503 and 504. The external fixator additionally comprises connecting pieces for articulation between the connecting bars (501 to 507), such as the articulation (7), the telescopic connecting piece (8) and orientable connecting pieces (97 to 99). After the onset of osseous consolidation, some of the connecting bars and their connecting pieces can be removed, it being possible for the bars (501,502) to be withdrawn from the vices (65, 66).
