An in-line fluid purification system uses a jacket () surrounding a fluid passageway (), formed of a UV transmissive material. The jacket () may be surrounded by a UV reflective material (). UV radiation () is coupled into the jacket (), and the jacket () disperses and reflects the radiation over the entire cross section of the passageway (). In this way, UV illumination of the full cross section of a fluid passageway () is ensured.

Fluid purification system and method

A dielectric barrier discharge, DBD, lamp device comprises a toroid shaped discharge chamber () having a discharge chamber wall (). The discharge chamber wall comprises a tubular inner wall section (), a tubular outer wall section (), and two ring-shaped end wall sections (). Each of the end wall sections extend between an end of the outer wall section and an end of the inner wall section. A high voltage electrode () is provided at an outer surface of the outer wall section of the discharge chamber wall. A low voltage electrode comprises an electrically conducting fluid surrounded by the inner wall section of the discharge chamber wall. The DBD lamp device may be part of an optical fluid treatment device.

An air purification system for a structure includes a first radiation source for generating UV-B and/or UV-C radiation and having an imaginary horizontal plane intersecting with the center of the first radiation source. The system further includes a first screen facing the first radiation source for preventing UV radiation generated by the first radiation source from radiating directly outward from the air purification system into a space below the imaginary horizontal plane. A second screen, facing the first radiation source as well as the first screen, is adjustable with respect to the first radiation source and is at least partially coated with a photo-catalytic material at a surface facing the first radiation source.

Air purification system, method for purifying air inside a structure

A treatment system or treatment reactor () comprising at least one dielectric barrier discharge lamp () with a first electrode () and a housing () for containing a medium () like a fluid and/or a gas and/or a solid material which is to be treated by means of the radiation generated by the lamp () is disclosed which is especially characterized in that at least one second electrode of at least one lamp () is provided in the form of at least one intermediate counter electrode () which is positioned within a volume () between at least one dielectric barrier discharge lamp () and the housing (). By this, influences of the treated medium on the electrical behavior of the treatment system or reactor () and especially power losses in the medium can be avoided or considerably be decreased. Furthermore, losses of the lamp light due to absorption and/or shadowing at an outer electrode surrounding the lamp are avoided as well.

The lamp is of a simple construction that can be easily realized. The current conductors ( ) occupy a predetermined position with respect to one another in the lamp owing to the use of the shaped metal body ( ), and fewer components have to be combined in the manufacture of the lamp.
