A board for gliding for downhill skiing, of &ldquo;shell&rdquo; type construction having, at lest in an underfoot zone a lower gliding surface composed of a sole plate bordered by metal edges and a topsheet substantially parallel to the lower gliding surface, on either side of the center longitudinal plane of the board. The underfoot zone further includes lateral faces extending between the metal edges and the topsheet, the lateral faces having recesses located below the plane of the topsheet and opening out in the latter. The base of the recess forms a slope that is inclined longitudinally relative to the lower gliding surface and the topsheet.

A raising platform for a binding for a board for gliding over snow, including a planar central zone capable of receiving the front stop and the heel piece of the binding, and two lateral portions of which the lower edge is intended for interacting with the board for gliding, wherein the lower edge of the lateral portions has, in a longitudinal plane, a certain gradient relative to the plane of the central zone.

A board for gliding on snow, such as a ski, comprises, in its support region, a device for mounting a boot binding. The device comprises at least one lower element that bears on the lower edge of the board and may laterally cover the edge, at least one upper element that forms a platform for mounting a boot binding, and at least one connecting element between each lower and upper element. Each lower element is supported by the corresponding lower edge of the board, and the assembly of the lower element, the connecting element, and the upper element is rigid.

A ski comprising: a first, lower assembly (10), including a planar running sole (11) having a plane of symmetry (P) perpendicular to the plane of the running sole and passing through the longitudinal mid-axis of the running sole; a second, upper assembly (15), forming a top (16) and lateral sides (17); and these two assemblies define an intermediate space (20), in which the neutral fiber (FN) is located, wherein the inclined longitudinal reinforcement element consists of a flat strip (25) which, while defining an acute angle with respect to the plane of the running sole (11), is arranged asymmetrical with respect to the plane (P) of symmetry of the lower assembly (10).

In this composite ski, each cap, i.e., tip or tail, comprises at least one recess terminating in an end surface thereof for attachment to the ski body, with a reinforcing frame of the ski body extending longitudinally beyond the ends of the ski body to engage the at least one cap recess. The ski body is then injected with foam made of synthetic material, which constitutes the core of the body and also fills the at least one cap recess thereby forming a composite ski with greater flexibility that is much safer and less susceptible to damage.

A ski pole including a cranked/bent rod member having one end which is inserted into a cavity of a handle and another end which receives the ring or bail. The cavity of the handle is inclined by an angle .alpha. relative to the longitudinal axis of the handle. The handle includes a device for providing free rotation of the rod member relative to the handle member and a device for locking the rod member in a selected rotational position.

Ski pole

A downhill ski has side walls which form, over at least a part of their length, an acute angle with the base and have a continuously varying slope and are asymmetrical. The slope angle of one of the side walls increasesfrom tip to waist and decreases from waist to tail, while the slope angle of the other side wall decreases from tip to waist and increases from waist to tail. The two skis of a given pair are symmetrical to one another relative to a longitudinal plane located midway between the two skis, so that like side walls can be alternately positioned adjacent each other to suit different snow conditions. The construction provides enhanced versatility for varying snow conditions.
