There is described a process for producing readily dispersible, nondusty dye preparations in granulated form, in which process difficultly water-soluble to water-insoluble dyes, pigments or optical brighteners, in a finely dispersed form, and water-insoluble carrier resins from the polyvinylacetal class are added, with vigorous shaking or stirring, to a two-phase system composed of water and a polar organic solvent having only limited solubility in the aqueous phase; the organic phase containing the dye and the carrier resin is dissipated by dilution with water; and the particles of the preparation are separated and freed from the aqueous, solvent-containing phase by rinsing and drying; the preparations which contain transferable dyes are especially useful for preparing a printing ink by dispersion in a liquid medium composed of water or of an organic solvent or of a mixture of water and an organic solvent; the printing inks thus obtained are themselves useful for printing paper which can be used in a transfer printing process.

Described are aqueous, stable, highly concentrated, finely dispersed, flowable preparations of dyestuffs and optical brighteners insoluble to difficultly soluble in water, which preparations have a low content of dispersing agent and a particle size smaller than 10 .mu., particularly smaller than 2 .mu., characterized in that these preparations contain at least 10 percent by weight of water, at least 30 percent by weight of a finely dispersed dyestuff or optical brightener insoluble to difficultly soluble in water, and a mixture consisting of at most 10 percent by weight of an anion-active dispersing agent, at most 5 percent by weight of a nonionic dispersing agent and at most 35 percent by weight of a hydrotropic agent, as well as, optionally, further additives which preparations are useful for the dyeing, printing and optical brightening of textile material in a conventional manner or for the production of printing pastes having an aqueous base or a water-in-oil-emulsion base which printing pastes are useful for the printing of carrier materials, particularly paper with application of dyestuffs or optical brighteners suitable for transfer printing and use of the printed carrier materials in the transfer printing process on textile materials.

New aqueous, stable, highly concentrated, finely dispersed, flowable dyestuff preparations having a low content of dispersing agents and a high content of dyestuff insoluble to difficultly soluble in water are described, which dyestuffs have a particle size smaller than 10 .mu., particularly smaller than 2 .mu., the said preparations being characterised in that they contain at least 10 percent by weight of water, at least 30 percent by weight of a finely dispersed dyestuff, especially a disperse or vat dyestuff, and a mixture consisting of at most 10 percent by weight of an anionactive dispersing agent, at most 5 percent by weight of a nonionic dispersing agent and at most 35 percent by weight of a hydrotropic agent as well as, optionally, further additives. The said dyestuff preparations are especially useful for the preparation of printing pastes having an aqueous base or a water-in-oil emulsion base, which themselves can be used preferably for the printing of carrier materials, particularly paper, suitable for transfer printing.

A process for the manufacture of colored shaped articles from high polymer synthetic resins, wherein water-insoluble, hydrophobic, high polymer synthetic resins in solid form, especially in the form of granules or powders, in a mixture of hydrophilic and organophilic solvents that are reciprocally soluble in one another only to a limited extent and form a two-phase system, are treated with dyestuffs or optical brighteners, the solubility of which in the organophilic portion of the two-phase system is greater than in the hydrophilic portion, the solvent is removed, the synthetic resin dried and shaped, optionally with addition of untreated high polymer fully synthetic resin, from the melt or from a solvent.

Liquid to pasty dyestuff preparations are described consisting of at least 35 % of an optionally hydrous solvent from the class of alcohols, esters, ethers or ketones having a boiling point of above 90.degree.C, at least 10 % and at most 40 % of a dyestuff or optical brightener and at least 5 % and at most 25 % of a partially or fully synthetic thermostable synthetic resin present in the dissolved form. These preparations are useful for the coating of compounds of thermoplastic high polymers in the form of granulates or in the form of flakes or powders, particularly those made from polyester, polyamide and polypropylene.
