Disclosed herein is a catheter placement system with a stiffening system and associated methods thereof. The catheter placement system can include a needle, catheter (e.g. rapid insertion central catheter), one or more guidewires, and a stiffening system, configured to place the catheter while containing portions of the catheter placement system that contact the patient within a sterile environment. Advantageously, the catheter placement system can provide all tools necessary for accessing a vasculature, dilating the insertion site and placing the catheter within a single device, mitigating repeated insertion of multiple tools and reducing the risk of introducing pathogens or the like. Further, the overall time required to place the catheter is reduced, reducing patient down time and improving patient outcomes.

A medical cart apparatus includes at least one component and at least one holster that is tilted with respect to a horizontal plane and is configured to hold or store the at least one component. The medical cart apparatus is ergonomic and conveniently and securely stores elements in the cart. The holster is configured as a storage area, holder, or receptacle, and the holster has a back wall, at least one side, at least one side cut-out, a lip at an entrance of the holster, and a bottom surface that is tilted at the angle with respect to the horizontal plane. The side cut-outs of the holster provide visibility by showing whether a component is in the holster or not, and provide accessibility by facilitating or allowing easy insertion and easy takeout of the at least one component from the holster.

Disclosed is a two-step rapid insertion central catheter ('RICC') system that can include an introducer placement system, a docking station and a catheter placement system. The introducer placement system can place an introducer within a vasculature, which is supported by a docking station that detaches from a distal end of the introducer placement system. A catheter placement system can be configured to couple with the docking station, and a catheter can be advanced through the introducer into the vasculature. The introducer can then be split and retracted before the catheter placement system disengages the docking station. The docking station can be configured to split and disengage from the catheter. The RICC system can include a guidewire hub to prevent guidewire embolisms, collapsible sterile barriers to prevent contamination, and locking features to prevent premature advancement of guidewires, dilators and the like.
