A cable splice closure includes a closure body having mating surfaces sealed together. An end seal in the closure has an opening for receiving a cable. The end seal is sealed to the closure body by an adhesive bond. An adhesive injection port in the end seal. The port is provided to communicate an adhesive injected into the end seal to bond surfaces of the end seal and the cable to be received, into a sealed unit. The adhesive is a low surface energy adhesive based on acrylic monomers with organoborane are complexes.

An end seal for a cable splice closure includes a core portion having a slot for receiving a cable. A tail portion, extending from the core portion, is of sufficient length and flexibility to be extended over the slot. An adhesive injection port is provided in the core portion to communicate an adhesive injected into the injection port to the slot to bond into a sealed unit the surfaces of the end seal and the cable to be received. The adhesive is a low surface energy adhesive based on acrylic monomers with organoborane amine complexes.

An optical fiber organizer for protecting and storing optical fibers includes a housing having a first level separated from a second level. A first fiber port is provided on the first level and a second fiber port is provided on the second level. Eccentric fiber channels are provided on the first level. Each channel has a passage for communicating fiber with an adjacent channel. The outermost one of the channels includes a passage for communicating fiber with the first fiber port on the first level. The innermost one of the channels includes a passage for communicating fiber to the second fiber port on the second level. A transition channel between the innermost and outermost channels provides an optical fiber splice device.

Optical fiber organizer

A fiber optic splice organizer including a fiber optic storage tray having a region for receiving a splice insert, and at least one splice insert having a pad and a plurality of flexible arms attached and extending generally perpendicular to the pad, the arms positioned to form a series of parallel grooves for receiving individual fiber optic components, such as splice elements, and the arms being staggered along a given one of the grooves to provide a multi-point load on any component inserted therein. There are preferably at least three arms on each side of a given groove, and each of the arms advantageously has a hook or other latching element formed thereon for retaining the optical component, with hooks on arms along a given side of one of the grooves alternately facing in opposite directions. In one embodiment, the pad is provided with ears to engage respective cutouts in the tray. The pad, ears and arms may be integrally formed (injection molded) of a flexible material such as natural or synthetic rubbers, polyurethane, EPDM, Neoprene or nitrile, or blends of these materials, including blends with polypropylene. The material should have a hardness in the range of 30 Shore A to 50 Shore D, and preferably in the range of 60-80 Shore A.
