An ultrasound probe positioning system () comprises a positioning unit () for holding an ultrasound probe unit () and for moving the ultrasound probe unit and positioning it at a target position and a positioning control unit () configured to provide target positioning data indicative of a target position that establishes a mechanical contact of the ultrasound probe unit with an external object () and to control the mechanical positioning unit in moving and positioning the ultrasound probe at the target position. The positioning unit comprises a force actuation unit () configured to adapt a pressing force amount of a mechanical pressing force exerted on the object in response to a variation of a counterforce amount so as to maintain a predetermined net pressing force amount exerted by the mechanical pressing force against the counterforce.

A system for assisting in performing an interventional procedure includes a first subsystem () and a second subsystem at different places, especially in different rooms. At a first place the first subsystem a) generates a first image of a subject () while an interventional device () is introduced into the subject and b) determines the position of the interventional device within the subject. At a second place the second subsystem a) generates a second image of the subject with the introduced interventional device and b) plans and/or monitors a treatment based on the second image and the already determined position of the interventional device, i.e. the second subsystem does not need to start a completely new position determination procedure, thereby reducing technical efforts. Moreover, the first and second images are generated by different imaging modalities which allows for, for instance, improved image guidance, planning and/or monitoring.

System for assisting in performing an interventional procedure

The invention relates to a treatment assessment device () for assessing a treatment of a subject, wherein a current treatment is tracked by a tracking unit () and previous conformance values being indicative of previous degrees of conformance of previous treatments with previous treatment plans are provided. A visualization unit () generates a visualization being indicative of a current degree of conformance of the current treatment with the current treatment plan in relation to the previous degrees of conformance based on the tracking of the current treatment, the current treatment plan and the provided previous conformance values. The visualization can be shown on a display such that a physician can see how well the current treatment conforms to the treatment plan in comparison to the degree of conformance achieved in previous treatments, thereby providing an assessment of the quality of the current treatment in relation to previous treatments.

A system for displaying an image in a viewport includes a zoom subsystem () arranged for gradually zooming the image () towards a scale factor at which the image just fits within the viewport (). The zoom () subsystem is arranged for keeping a fixed point () fixed within the viewport (). The fixed point () depends on a pan/zoom parameter () of the image () at the time zooming starts. The fixed point () is a point of the image () which is being displayed in the viewport () at the time zooming starts.
