The invention relates to a system () for optically detecting at least one substance in a fluid (). The system () comprises particles () arranged to be dispersed in the fluid (), each one comprising a magnetic bead () and an agent (). The agent () is reactive with said substance such that it gives a specific optical response upon a determined optical excitation or a chemical reaction. The system () further comprises a chamber () to contain said fluid () and particles (). The chamber () is closed at one side by a window () optically transparent to the wavelengths of said optical response and said optical excitation. The system () further comprises an optical reading system () adapted to detect at least a portion of said optical response. The system () further comprises magnetic sources () arranged to magnetically move the particles () onto or close to the window (). The optical reading system () is positioned to receive at least a portion of the optical response from the at least one agent () located onto or close to the window (). The invention relates further to a disposable and a method.

Optical detection of a substance in fluid

The application relates to a sample holder () and a system (). The application also relates to a method for processing a biological sample (S) and use of the sample holder or of the system in an analytical method or a diagnostic method. The sample holder () comprises a tubular member () with a wall that is at least locally transparent and at least locally permeable for reagents, wherein the tubular member consists at least partially of a transparent material.

For irradiating a layer a radiation beam is directed and focussed to a spot on the layer, relative movement of the layer relative to the lens is caused so that, successively, different portions of the layer are irradiated and an interspace between a surface of the lens nearest to the layer is maintained. The filter unit () is characterized in that it comprises a filter material () which is integrated into the aperture of at least one foil (). In a preferred embodiment, the filter material () may be located in the aperture of an intermediate foil () which is embedded between a top foil () and a bottom foil (). Such a filter unit () can readily be produced in cost-effective processes like roll-to-roll manufacturing technologies.

The invention relates to a detection apparatus () for detecting particles on or close to a particles detection surface () in a first optical detection mode and in a second optical detection mode, wherein a component of a light detection system () and/or a component of an optical system () of the detection apparatus is arranged to be used in the first detection mode and in the second detection mode. Since a component of the light detection system and/or a component of the optical system is arranged to be used in the first detection mode and in the second detection mode, this component does not need to be provided twice, i.e. for being used in the first detection mode and for being used in the second detection mode. This can lead to a reduced number of components and can make the detection apparatus technically less complex.

A sensor device and a method for a double telecentric optical system includes a single focusing element, such as a lens. The device and method further include a mirror element arranged at a focal point of the single focusing element to reflect incoming light rays back to the single focusing element. The incoming and reflected light rays pass through different parts of the single focusing element to allow for a spatially separated arrangement of an object and its image.

A carrier and an apparatus for optical detection of a sample in a sample chamber includes en optical structure for refracting an input light beam into the adjacent sample chamber and for collecting an output light beam from light that originates in the sample chamber from the input light beam. The optical structure includes grooves in the surface of the carrier in which the Input light beam is transmitted Over a short distance through a sample. The optical structure can also be used for a wetting detection.

A filtering apparatus for filtering a fluid includes a filter element for filtering the fluid and an adhesive capillary structure for generating capillary forces. The adhesive capillary structure is attached to the filter element by using an adhesive property of the adhesive capillary structure. The adhesive capillary structure is preferentially made of a double-sided tape, which is adhesive on two sides. The filtering apparatus further includes a filtering location where the filter element is located, and a detection location where a property of the fluid is detectable. The capillary structure is formed such that the filtered fluid is guided from the filtering location to the detection location.

A non-leaching adhesive system and its use in a liquid immersion objective for immersion-writing of masters for optical discs are disclosed. The adhesive system comprises at least one monomer, selected from among the group of acrylate and methacrylate monomers, allylic monomers, norbornene monomers, hybrid monomers thereof, containing chemically different polymerizable groups, and multifunctional thiol monomers, provided that said thiol is used in combination with at least one of said non-thiol monomers; and a polymerization initiator. At least one of said monomers, not being a thiol, is provided with at least two functional polymerizable groups to obtain a crosslinked polymer network. The polymerization initiator is preferably an initiator that can be activated both thermally and with UV radiation. The adhesive system may further contain a reactive diluent.
