The invention describes a composite material for heat storage comprising a thermochemical material (TCM) encapsulated in a water vapour permeable polymeric material. The thermochemical material preferably comprises at least one salt, at least one salt hydrate or a mixture of these, wherein the salt is preferably capable of binding water in an exothermic reaction, such as calcium chloride. Encapsulation in a water vapour permeable polymeric material results in an improved stability, cyclability of the thermochemical material, a reduced regeneration temperature and reduced corrosion of the environment. The composite according to the invention is particularly suitable for energy storage, preferably in the field of building and construction, and more preferably in the seasonal storage of solar energy.

Composite material for heat storage, method for preparation and use

The invention describes a composite material for heat storage comprising a thermochemical material (TCM) encapsulated in a water vapor permeable polymeric material. The invention is directed to a construction material and to the use of modified layered inorganic material. The construction material of the invention comprises a layered inorganic material, which layered inorganic material comprises an ionic organic modifier compound and a biocide. The construction material of the invention has increased resistance against microbial fouling.

The invention relates to a method of generating a 'multicomponent particle comprising: and a multicomponent particle generating system comprising: a first nozzle constructed to generate at least one isolated particle; a second nozzle arranged to generate a generally uninterrupted fluid jet without breaking up, &#x2014;said first and second nozzles arranged to have said isolated particle collide with the fluid jet so as to combine said particle with fluid of the second fluid jet, for providing a multicomponent particle; and a collector by which said isolated particles can be captured after collision with the fluid jet.

The invention provides a method for encapsulating a liquid, which method comprises the steps of providing a suspension of droplets of the liquid to be encapsulated; stabilizing the suspension of droplets with a surfactant; adding a layered inorganic material to the stabilized suspension; and subjecting the suspension to a treatment which establishes that a shell of a hybrid material is formed around the droplets, which hybrid material comprises at least part of the inorganic material and at least part of the surfactant. The invention further provides encapsulated liquid droplets obtainable by said method.

Method for encapsulating a liquid

The invention is directed to the use of a specific class of compounds in the treatment of wood, to a method of treating wood, and to the wood obtained by said method. The black insoluble polymer which forms after oxidative polymerisation of this class of compounds is able to color the wood through and through in a homogeneous fashion and cannot be rinsed off or leached with water or solvent and is stable upon UV radiation. In addition it was found that the treated wood of the present invention has a strong resistance against wood degrading fungi.
