A method of creating a light script for a video is disclosed. The light script comprises lighting control instructions for controlling one or more light sources when the video is being displayed. The method () comprises: &#x2014;receiving a user input indicative of a selection of a lighting control instruction for a scene (S, S, S, S, S), &#x2014;associating the lighting control instruction (L, L, L, L, L) with the scene (S, S, S, S, S), &#x2014;analyzing () the scene (S, S, S, S, S) of the video to identify a scene characteristic (C, C, C, C, C) in the scene, &#x2014;analyzing () the video or another video to recognize, in a further scene (S, S, S, S), a similar or identical scene characteristic (C, C, C, C, C), and&#x2014;associating (), based on the recognition of the similar or identical scene characteristic (C, C, C, C, C), the lighting control instruction (L, L, L, L, L) with the further scene (S, S, S, S), such that when the scene (S, S, S, S, S) and the further scene (S, S, S, S) are being displayed the one or more light sources are control led according to the lighting control instruction (L, L, L, L, L).

Method and system for creating a light script for a video

A method of controlling a connected lighting system based on audio-visual content. The method comprises automatically performing operations of: color extraction from an image comprised in video component of the audio-visual content, calculating an audio intensity level of an audio sample of the audio component of the audio-visual content, determining of a first target light color and a first audio intensity level based on the extracted color and the calculated audio intensity level; and controlling at least one lighting device according to the determined first target light color and the first audio intensity level. This method provides for control in a manner which increases immersion of a user experiencing the audio-visual content as being rendered by, for example a TV, through providing light effects by a connected lighting system.

Rendering a dynamic light scene based on audio visual content

A controller for a lighting system, the lighting system comprising one or more luminaires associated with a lighting channel; the controller comprising: a script interpreter configured to interpret a lighting script for rendering on the luminaires; an effect impact determining module configured to determine a visual impact level of each of the lighting effects if rendered as defined by the lighting script unmodified; a script modifier configured to selectively generate, based on the visual impact levels, effect modification data for modifying the visual impact level of at least one of the lighting effects; a lighting controller configured to control the luminaires associated with the lighting channel to render versions of the lighting effects defined by the lighting script, wherein the lighting controller is configured to use the effect modification data to render a modified version of the at least one lighting effect having the modified visual impact level.

Lighting script control

A game lighting controller detects implicit triggers in the video games, each based on analysing audio and/or video content output during gameplay and/or an effect on one or more players invoked by the content. Each implicit trigger corresponds to a respective one of a set of predefined event types. Based on detecting one of these triggers in a video game, the controller identifies an event occurring within that video game as being of a certain one of the predefined event types. The controller also reads metadata specifying a classification of the video game from amongst a set of predefined classifications. Based on identifying the event as being of the particular predetermined type, and in dependence on the classification of the video game specified in the metadata, the controller controls illumination emitted by one or more luminaires to produce a lighting effect to accompany the first event during gameplay.

Lighting for video games

A lighting controller for controlling illumination emitted by one or more luminaires to accompany a video game. When a first event occurs during gameplay, the controller receives an indication of an identified type of the first event from amongst a set of predefined event types, and based on this controls the illumination to produce a first lighting effect to accompany the first event during the gameplay phase. When a second event of the same type occurs in a non-gameplay phase of the video game, the controller receives an indication of this also. Based on identifying that the events are the same type, but that the video game is in the non-gameplay phase rather than the gameplay phase, the controller controls the illumination to produce a second lighting effect to accompany the occurrence of the second event during the non-gameplay phase, this effect being visibly distinct from the first lighting effect.

A lighting system comprising: a first controllable light source () configured to provide light in a first direction; a second electrically controllable light source () configured to provide light in a second direction; a support structure () comprising at least one region of light diffusing particles configured to diffuse light provided by the second electrically controllable light source such that at least a portion of the light provided by the second electrically controllable light source is output in the first direction and is mixed with the light provided by the first controllable light source.

Lighting system

A lighting system uses an array of lighting elements which provide light in different directions. The intensity of the lighting elements is controlled in dependence on a time-varying parameter related to at least one of a position of a light emitting or light reflecting body, and an intensity, color or color temperature of the light emitted or reflected by the body, such that the system can simulate directional sunlight.

Lighting system and a method of controlling a lighting system

A lighting system has a recessed panel (light source or window) and a side wall or a set of side walls around the recess. The side wall (or at least one of the side walls), is provided with a lighting arrangement for controlling the color of illumination and/or shape from which light is emitted from the side wall or side walls. This can be used to replicate the sharp lighting boundaries that arise on the recess walls from sun illumination through a skylight, or else they can be used to provide general illumination around a window.

A lighting system for providing a daylight appearance and a luminaire are provided. The lighting system comprises a plurality of light emitters and a plurality of optical elements. Said plurality of light emitters emit a wide light beam. Each optical element of at least a subset of the plurality of optical elements is related to a light emitter of the plurality of light emitters, thereby forming a pair. For each pair it applies that if a light emitter of a pair is arranged in a first relative position with respect to the optical element of said pair, the light emitter and the optical element are configured to emit the wide light beam, and if the light emitter of the pair is arranged in a second relative position with respect to the optical element of said pair, the optical element is configured to collimate a portion of the wide light beam to obtain a collimated light beam, and the optical element is configured to absorb another portion of light of the wide light beam in a predefined spectral range to obtain a blue light emission at light emission angles at least outside the collimated light beam.
