The invention relates to a process of making an anti-reflective coating composition comprising the steps of 1) preparing an oil-in-water emulsion by mixing an apolar organic compound A; a cationic addition copolymer C as emulsion stabilizer; and aqueous medium of pH 2-6; at a mass ratio C/A of 0.1 to 2, to result in 1-50 mass % (based on emulsion) of emulsified droplets of average particle size 30-300 nm; and 2) providing an inorganic oxide shell layer to the emulsified droplets by adding to the emulsion obtained in step 1) at least one inorganic oxide precursor, to result in organic-inorganic core-shell nano-particles with mass ratio core/shell of from 0.2 to 25. An advantage of this process is that the dispersion of nano-particles obtained is stable under different conditions, and allows altering its concentration and solvent system, and addition of different binders and auxiliary components. The invention also relates to a coating composition as obtained with said process, and to a process of applying a porous anti-reflective coating on a substrate using such composition, and to the resulting coated substrate.

Process for making an anti-reflective coating composition and a porous coating made therefrom

There is described a process for producing a gel free hyperbranched polyamide polymer having primary amino groups (useful as a crosslinker). The process comprises the step of reacting at least one diamine and at least one unsaturated diester in a molar ratio of diamine to diester greater than 1 but less than 3 (preferably 2.1 to 2.9); to form the polyamide in a two stage reaction Michael addition and then amidation. The diamine in kept in excess with at least 5% of water by total weight of the diamine and diester, a reaction temperature less than the boiling point of the diamine; and is held under reduced pressure (30 mbar to 1 atms). Gelation does not occur even after substantially all ethylenic (&#x2014;C&#x2550;C&#x2014;) double bonds; and &#x3e;95% ester [&#x2014;C(O)&#x2550;O] groups have reacted. This violates the Flory rules which predict a gel would form based on the number of functional groups present and their degree of conversion.

Polymer, process and composition

The present invention relates to a method for preparing a branched non dendrimeric macromolecule, comprising: a) providing an addition product of an &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-olefinically unsaturated compound and an amine comprising at least two hydroxyl groups; and b) esterifying at least part of the hydroxyl groups of the addition product with an olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, an olefinically unsaturated carboxylate anion or an olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride. The invention further relates to macromolecules obtainable by a method of the invention.

Oriented strand board (OSB), comprising a core layer and two face layers, whereby the face layers comprise an adhesive composition, wherein the adhesive composition in at least one of the face layers comprises a resin composition comprising melamine, formaldehyde, optionally urea and aromatic hydroxyl compounds, wherein the molar ratio of melamine to formaldehyde is 1:0.8-4.0, the molar ratio of melamine to urea is 1:0-2.0 and the molar ratio of melamine to aromatic hydroxyl compounds is 1:0-2.0. In a preferred embodiment, both the face layers and the core layer comprise the said adhesive composition. The OSB's according to the invention can meet the OSB/3 and even the OSB/4 requirements in the EN 300 standards.
