Method of operating a hearing aid fitting system and a hearing aid fitting system

The present invention relates in one aspect to an audio amplification circuit comprising an input terminal for receipt of an input signal from a transducer. A signal processor is operatively coupled to the input terminal for receipt and processing of the input signal to generate a processed digital audio signal in accordance with a programmable configuration setting of the signal processor. A serial data transmission interface is configured for receipt of the processed digital audio signal and supply of a corresponding digital audio stream at an output terminal of the integrated audio amplification circuit. A serial data receipt interface is operatively coupled to an externally accessible configuration terminal of the integrated audio amplification circuit and a controller is configured to adjust one of the programmable configuration setting of the signal processor and a format of a digital audio stream in accordance with first configuration data received through the serial data receipt interface. The controller is in a first state is responsive to a logic state of the externally accessible configuration terminal to control the format of the digital audio stream or the programmable configuration setting. In a second state, the controller is configured for receipt and reading of the first configuration data through the externally accessible configuration terminal and the serial data receipt interface.

Integrated audio amplification circuit with multi-functional external terminals

A microphone includes a base, a micro electro mechanical system (MEMS) device disposed on the base, and a front end processing apparatus disposed on the base and coupled to the MEMS device, the front end processing apparatus being configured to convert analog signals received from the MEMS device into digital signals. The microphone also includes a DSP apparatus, the DSP apparatus being a digital programmed device with a computer memory, the DSP apparatus configured to process the digital signals received from the front end processing apparatus. The MEMS device, the front end processing apparatus, and DSP apparatus are enclosed within a single microphone enclosure or assembly. During operation the DSP apparatus generates DSP noise. The DSP apparatus includes a noise reduction structure that substantially prevents the DSP noise from reaching or interfering with the operation of the MEMS device or the front end processing apparatus.

Signal processing platform in an acoustic capture device

An audio amplification circuit may include an input terminal for receipt of an input signal from a transducer. A signal processor may be coupled to the input terminal for receipt and processing of the input signal to generate a processed digital audio signal in accordance with a programmable configuration setting of the signal processor. A serial data transmission interface is configured for receipt of the processed digital audio signal and supply of a corresponding digital audio stream at an output terminal of the integrated audio amplification circuit. In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for associating a first node in a mesh network with an electrical device, wherein the electrical device comprises a home control device, enabling the mesh network to perform channel adjustment, transmitting data through the mesh network between the first node and a second node in the mesh network, wherein the transmission utilizes channel adjustment; and performing an action based at least in part on the transmitted data.

Home electrical device control within a wireless mesh network

A wireless binaural hearing system comprises a left-ear hearing device, a right-ear hearing device and auxiliary devices. The devices communicate via radio signals. Each device comprises a radio transmitter transmitting messages, each hearing device comprises a radio receiver receiving messages, the auxiliary device is adapted to transmit application messages, and the hearing devices are adapted to receive application messages. The quality of wireless communication varies when the user moves his head, which may lead to temporal gaps in communication. Such gaps may cause annoying pauses and/or delays in audio signals presented to the user, and the hearing devices may become temporarily unsynchronised. To avoid such gaps and improve reliability of the communication, without increasing the radio signal power, a first hearing device relays received application messages to a second hearing device in dependence on network messages received from the second hearing device indicating whether application messages were correctly received.

Wireless binaural hearing system

In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for operating a node in a wireless mesh network to scan each one of a plurality of channels received at a processing node in a wireless mesh network in a predetermined order for a predetermined duration to detect a preamble; detect the preamble on one of the plurality of channels; remain on a current one of the plurality of channels to receive a message after the predetermined duration when the preamble includes a predetermined series of symbols; and resume scanning each one of the plurality of channels after the message is received.

Dynamically enabling a channel for message reception in a mesh network

In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for configuring a constant powered mesh network node to control a configuration of an intermittently powered mesh network node, where the intermittently powered mesh network node may include a repeater node that periodically powers down for a time period to conserve energy. The embodiments include transmitting a message beam to the repeater node, where a duration of the message beam length may exceed the time period that the repeater node is powered down, and where the message beam may contain a preamble with data that may indicate that the repeater node is to remain powered up in order to receive a message, and may cause the intermittently powered mesh network node to request configuration information relating to a network topology from the constant powered mesh network node when the intermittently powered mesh network node powers up.

Using battery-powered nodes in a mesh network

In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for a communications facility that is adapted to communicate with at least one other mesh network node at a communication speed selected from a plurality of communication speeds.

Multi-speed mesh networks

In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for using a node in a mesh network to perceive a plurality of channels within a mesh network; selecting a first channel from the plurality of channels within the mesh network with the node; remaining on the first channel with the node for a predefined duration; remaining on the first channel beyond the predefined duration in order to receive a message if a signal is detected during the predefine duration; and selecting a second channel with the node once the predefined duration has elapsed without the signal detected.

Dynamically enabling a secondary channel in a mesh network

In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for associating a first node in a mesh network with a communication type; activating the first node at a predefined interval to detect the presence of a message of the communication type in a transmission from a second node in the mesh network; continuing to activate the first node at the predefined interval if the transmission from the second node does not conform to the associated communication type of the first node; activating the first node beyond the predefined interval if the associated communication type is detected in the transmission from the second node; and receiving a message at the first node from the second node following detection of the associated communication type.

A phase-locked loop circuit has an output amplifier () and a main feedback path from the output of the output amplifier (). A subsidiary feedback path is provided directly from the output of the circuit's VCO (). At the start of operation, the output amplifier () is disabled and the subsidiary feedback path is used until lock is achieved. Then the output amplifier () is enabled and the main feedback loop is used. This avoids spurious outputs from the outer amplifier while to loop locks.

Phase-locked loop circuit

A polar loop transmitter includes separate phase and envelope paths providing a linearising scheme for an efficient non-linear power amplifier. Loop filters are included in each of the phase and envelope paths to enable the path characteristics to be matched to one another. A polar loop transmitter and other types of envelope elimination and restoration transmitters control the output envelope of the power amplifier by connecting the output of the envelope detector, or in an envelope feedback transmitter, the envelope error signal, to the bias control input of the power amplifier. The transmitter can further include compensation means for compensating for non-linearities in the envelope control means and a loss of feedback control detector to ensure that the feedback signal remains within acceptable limits.
