An air filter cartridge for filtering liquids, such as fuel or oil, can be used in a filter assembly. The air filter cartridge has first and second opposite end caps and filter media extending between the end caps. The first end cap has an air channel with an inlet and an outlet to allow for the bleeding of air from the unfiltered side to the filtered side, while minimizing the amount of liquid allowed to bypass the media. Due to the viscosity differences of air versus liquid (e.g. a hydrocarbon such as fuel or oil), a long vent with at least one thin axis impedes liquid flow to a greater degree than air flow through the same vent.

A vent assembly has a housing defining a cavity, a first end, a second end, a vent opening, a valve opening, and a coupling structure towards the second end. The housing defines a valve opening and a vent opening. A vent is coupled to the housing across the vent opening, and a one-way relief valve is sealably disposed on the housing across a valve opening.

A battery housing has a plurality of housing sidewalls defining an enclosure, where a first housing sidewall of the plurality of housing sidewalls defines a plurality of openings cumulatively defining a valve opening. The housing defines a valve coupling structure around the valve opening.

A vent assembly has a housing defining a cavity, a first end, a second end, and a coupling structure towards the second end. A mounting surface is positioned between the first end and the second end within the cavity and defines a valve opening and a vent opening. A vent is coupled to the mounting surface across the vent opening, and an umbrella valve is sealably disposed on the mounting surface across a valve opening.

The present technology relates to an air reservoir for an enclosure where, upon submersion in water, the pressure differential between the water and the enclosure displaces air from the air reservoir into the enclosure to reduce the pressure differential.

The technology encompassed by the current disclosure generally relates to membrane composites that can be used in acoustic venting assemblies. In one embodiment of the technology disclosed herein, a venting media composite has a microporous membrane layer and a coating on the microporous membrane layer to form a composite. The basis weight of the composite is at least about 0.5% higher than a basis weight of the microporous membrane layer without the coating. In some embodiments the composite has a decreased insertion loss than its membrane-only counterpart.

The technology described herein generally relates to a microporous membrane laminate for acoustic venting. In one embodiment, the technology disclosed herein is a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane having an average pore size between 0.05 &#x3bc;m and 2 &#x3bc;m and a scrim layer laminated to the PTFE membrane to form an acoustic membrane laminate. The acoustic membrane laminate has a thickness between 10 &#x3bc;m and 60 &#x3bc;m, and the scrim layer defines an average scrim opening between 0.20 mm2 and 5.0 mm. The acoustic membrane laminate exhibits an increased average insertion loss in a frequency range from 300 Hz to 3000 Hz compared to the PTFE membrane alone, and has a decreased total harmonic distortion relative to the PTFE membrane alone. The acoustic membrane laminate has a water entry pressure that is substantially equal to that of the PTFE membrane.
