An electric vehicle includes an electric drive motor, transmission, and centrifugal clutch. The centrifugal clutch is drivingly coupled in a torque transmission path between the electric drive motor and the transmission. The centrifugal clutch includes a first friction plate, second friction plate, biasing member, and counterweight. The first friction plate is rotatable about an axis. The second friction plate is rotatable about the axis and axially movable relative to the first friction plate. The second friction plate is configured to frictionally engage the first friction plate to transmit torque therebetween. The biasing member biases the second friction plate toward the first friction plate. The counterweight assembly is coupled to the second friction plate and configured to apply a counterweight force on the second friction plate away from the first friction plate in response to a rotational speed of the second friction plate exceeding a predetermined rotational speed.

Electric vehicle with powertrain having reverse-acting centrifugal clutch

An electrified vehicle includes a storage compartment positioned forward of a vehicle passenger cabin and accessible by opening a vehicle hood, a thermally conductive plate or heat exchanger in contact with a bottom surface of the storage compartment and having an associated conduit configured for circulating a working fluid from a vehicle cooling system, and a valve operable to control flow of the working fluid through the conduit. The storage compartment may be filled with a cooling medium, such as ice or dry ice, to provide enhanced cooling during high-demand operation or charging of the vehicle, such as when operating in a performance/track mode, towing a trailer, or in other extreme use scenarios. The valve may be controlled so that the working fluid bypasses the conduit when the storage compartment is used for cargo and/or enhanced cooling is not desired.

The at least one vehicle function is suggested based on historical use of the control input option that controls the at least one vehicle function and an accessibility score of the control input option.

A vehicle system is provided. The system may include a first coolant loop, including a radiator, a second coolant loop including a battery chiller, and a centrifugal coolant separator. The centrifugal coolant separator may include a frustoconical hollow body having a base defining a drain and a ceiling defining a spout, and a pair of coolant lines arranged orthogonal to and on opposite sides of the body such that coolant exiting the lines travels along the inner surface and collects at the base to separate gas from the coolant, wherein the spout vents the gas and the coolant exits the drain.
