The invention relates to a method of controlling feelings of pain in infants or diseased or elderly persons using a complete nutrition or a nutritional supplement. The method comprises administering increased levels of folic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 or their functional equivalents.

Composition for relieving discomfort

The invention relates to products for complete nutrition of infants or diseased or elderly persons. The products are characterized by increased levels of folic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 or their functional equivalents. These products improve feelings of well-being of infants, especially those of young age, and are useful in the treatment and prevention of diseases that are associated with disorders of serotonin and melatonin metabolism.

Pharmaceutical compositions for alleviating discomfort

An improved infant formula resulting in reduced constipation, abdominal discomfort and gastrointestinal problems, comprises at least one protein component having a phosphorus content of less than 0.75 g P/100 g protein, and at least one lipid component that can be easily digested by an infant. Preferably, it further comprises at least one prebiotic component, and at least one viscosity-improving component. The protein fraction of the formula is preferably a hydrolysate prepared by hydrolysing a protein starting material, especially a whey protein with a combination of at least one endo- and at least one exoproteinase.
