A row unit for a seeding machine includes a frame supporting a gauge wheel and a seed meter. A depth stop assembly includes a stop setting an upward travel limit of the gauge wheel with respect to the frame, and a handle that is lockable and releasable to move the stop to select among seeding depths. A downforce actuator is operable to generate downforce to be applied through a gauge wheel arm and the gauge wheel to the soil. A downforce sensor is incorporated into the depth stop assembly and movable therewith. The depth stop assembly includes a multi-piece body having a first piece receiving the handle, and a second piece defining a pivot. The first piece of the multipiece body includes a handle-receiving receptacle portion, a fastening portion for fastening to the second body piece adjacent the pivot, and a portion therebetween forming a housing of the downforce sensor.

A row unit for a work vehicle includes a row unit frame, a gauge wheel, and a gauge wheel coupling assembly that attaches the gauge wheel to the row unit frame at a lateral position with respect to the row unit frame. The gauge wheel coupling assembly supports the gauge wheel for lateral movement to change the lateral position of the gauge wheel. The gauge wheel coupling assembly includes a coarse adjust coupling and a fine adjust coupling. The coarse adjust coupling is configured for selectively adjusting, at a first increment, the lateral position of the gauge wheel. The fine adjust coupling is configured for selectively adjusting, at a second increment, the lateral position of the gauge wheel. The first increment is larger than the second increment.

A seed firmer for pressing seeds into soil during planting. The seed firmer includes a mount for attachment to a row unit of a planting machine. An arm defines a ground-facing surface having at least one point of contact with the ground, including a rearmost ground contact point with respect to a direction of forward travel during planting operation. The ground-facing surface has a transition section directly trailing a rearmost ground contact point, the transition section can extending upwardly from the rearmost ground contact point with a radius no less than 25 mm.

The ground-facing surface has a transition section directly trailing a rearmost ground contact point, the transition section can extending upwardly from the rearmost ground contact point with a radius no less than 25 mm. Also, in some constructions the rearmost section of the ground-facing surface defines a ratio of horizontal distance to vertical height that is no less than 1.2:1.

An implement weight transfer system having a feedback control system to vary the amount of weight transfer as product stored on the implement is used.
