In a first aspect, a metal-clad polymer film includes a polymer film adhered to a first metal layer. The root-mean-square roughness (S) of the interface between the polymer film and the first metal layer is less than 1 μm. The peel strength between the polymer film and the first metal layer is greater than 5 N/cm after 168 hours of aging at 150° C. when tested for a polymer film having a thickness in the range of from 25 to 75 μm and a first metal layer having a thickness of 18 μm in accordance with IPC-TM-650 test methods. The thickness of the first metal layer is 12 μm or less. The polymer film includes a first thermoplastic polyimide layer. In a second aspect, an electronic device includes the metal-clad polymer film of the first aspect. In a third aspect a process includes for forming a double-sided metal-clad polymer film.

Gas sensors are provided. The gas sensors comprise: a substrate; a plurality of electrodes on the substrate; and a polymeric sensing layer on the substrate for adsorbing a gas-phase analyte. The adsorption of the analyte is effective to change a property of the gas sensor that results in a change in an output signal from the gas sensor. The polymeric sensing layer comprises a polymer chosen from substituted or unsubstituted polyarylenes comprising the reaction product of monomers comprising a first monomer comprising an aromatic acetylene group and a second monomer comprising two or more cyclopentadienone groups, or a cured product of the reaction product. The gas sensors and methods of using such sensors find particular applicability in the sensing of gas-phase organic analytes.

Gas sensors and methods of sensing a gas-phase analyte

Conventional atomic layer deposition technology is modified to increase its cost-effective viability for use in producing thinly coated flexible packaging film. In one embodiment a thinly coated flexible substrate, e.g., a polyolefin film, is made by a process comprising the steps of: (A) Dissolving a self-limiting precursor in a solvent to form a solution of dissolved self-limiting precursor in the solvent, (B) Applying the solution to a facial surface of a flexible polymer film so that at least a portion of the dissolved self-limiting precursor attaches to the facial surface of the film and the solution is at least partially depleted of self-limiting precursor, and (C) Curing the attached self-limiting precursor by contact with oxygen.

The present disclosure relates to a process for synthesizing a multi- or dual-headed composition by using an alpha,omega-diene and an organometallic compound in the presence of a catalyst precursor. The present disclosure further relates to use of the compositions, as well as the process to make the same, in olefin polymerization.

The present disclosure relates to a multi- or dual-headed composition having the formula (I) or (II). The present disclosure also relates to a process for preparing the multi- or dual-headed composition having the formula (I) or (II), the process including combining 1,2,4-trivinylcyclochexane, an organometallic compound, and a catalyst precursor. The present disclosure further relates to use of the composition having the formula (I) or (II) in olefin polymerization.

Acoustic wave sensors comprise: a piezoelectric layer, first and second electrodes arranged with the piezoelectric layer in a piezoelectric transducer circuit; and a polymeric sensing layer for adsorbing a gas-phase analyte, the adsorption of which analyte causes a change in resonant frequency of the piezoelectric transducer circuit, wherein the polymeric sensing layer comprises: (a) a polymer chosen from substituted or unsubstituted: polyarylenes comprising the reaction product of monomers comprising a first monomer comprising an aromatic acetylene group and a second monomer comprising a cyclopentadienone group; polyamides; polypyrazoles; or novolacs; or a cured product thereof; (b) a polymer chosen from substituted or unsubstituted: polyamic acids; or polyamic acid-polyimide copolymers; (c) a polymer formed from one or more monomers comprising a monomer comprising a polar group-substituted arylcyclobutene group, or a cured product thereof; or (d) a polymer comprising polymerized units of a monomer chosen from substituted or unsubstituted: maleimides; or norbomenes; or a cured product thereof. The acoustic wave sensors and methods of using such sensors find particular applicability in the sensing of gas-phase analytes.
