Disclosed herein is a ring-shaped wearable device for detecting biometrics with a light source and a photodetector directed towards a digit wearing the ring-shaped device. The ring can thus detect oxygen saturation of a wearer based on light transmitted through the wearer's finger. The ring can include power saving measures to extend the battery life. A motion sensor can help determine opportune moments for data collection such as when the wearer is still. The motion sensor can be used to remove noise from the data caused by motion. After data is collected or during data collection, the ring can wirelessly communicate the data to another portable electronic device such as a phone or watch.

Ring for optically measuring biometric data

Various embodiments provide a wellness tracking device with a base plate that may be utilized as a combination electrode by a variety of sensors. The base plate may be a multi-material electrode that includes a conductor and a transparent or semi-transparent material to enable optical sensing. In certain embodiments, the base plate supports a plurality of different sensors, which may selectively utilize the base plate as an electrode.

Methods and systems for combination electrodes for wearable devices

Health information for a woman can be used to predict timing of events related to the woman's menstrual cycle. If available, historical cycle information for a woman can be used to predict upcoming cycle events, such as the start and stop of menstruation. To improve the accuracy of those predictions, one or more health metrics are monitored for the woman that can be correlated with the menstrual cycle. These can include, for example, the resting heart rate (RHR), blood oxygen concentration (SpO) level, and hemoglobin concentration, among other such options. The metrics are monitored over time to determine patterns that can be correlated with menstrual cycle. This information can then be used to update the predictive model, as well as to update individual event predictions. Information about the predictions, and updates to the predictions, can be surfaced accordingly.

A wearable computing device includes one or more processors, memory and a physiological metric sensor system, including a light source configured to direct light into tissue of a user wearing the wearable computing device, a light detector implemented a distance away from the light source and configured to detect light from the light source that reflects back from the user, and a light-blocking portion implemented between the light source and the light detector. The wearable computing device may further include an audio port directed towards an ear canal of the user and control circuitry configured to activate the light source during a period of time and generate a light detector signal indicating an amount of light detected by the light detector during the period of time.

In-canal heart rate monitoring apparatus

A body-mountable device includes a flexible substrate configured for mounting to a skin surface. The flexible substrate is configured to be adhered or otherwise mounted to the skin in a manner that minimally impacts activities of the body. The device includes a flexible display configured to provide indications to a user, e.g., indications of sensor readings, medical alerts, or operational states of the device. The display could be operated on a very low power budget, e.g., the display could be operated intermittently. In some examples, the display could include an e-paper display or similar low power display elements. In some examples, elements of the display, e.g., electrodes of a multi-segment display, could be formed on the flexible substrate such that additional elements of the display, e.g., a layer of display medium and a layer of transparent conductor, could be adhered or otherwise attached to the formed elements.

Display on a bandage-type monitoring device

A flexible, body-mountable analyte sensing device includes a flexible substrate configured for mounting to skin of a living body. The sensing device additionally includes a sensor probe attached to the flexible substrate and configured to penetrate the skin such that a sensor disposed on the end of the sensor probe can be exposed to an analyte in interstitial fluid. The sensor could be an electrochemical sensor that includes two or more electrodes disposed at the end of the sensor probe and configured to electrochemically detect the analyte. The sensing device is configured to display detected concentrations or other information about the analyte in the interstitial fluid. The flexible substrate of the sensing device is configured to be adhered or otherwise mounted to the skin in a manner that minimally impacts activities of the living body.

Calibration methods for a bandage-type analyte sensor

An example system includes a flexible substrate configured to be mounted to a skin surface. The system includes a sensor probe that has a first end attached to the flexible substrate and a second end configured to extend beneath the skin surface to contact interstitial fluid. A sensor is configured to measure a physiological property and is disposed at the second end of the sensor probe. A transmitter is attached to the flexible substrate and is configured to provide information related to sensor measurements to a controller. The controller is configured to a drug delivery rate based on the information.

Control of a peripheral device with a bandage-type analyte sensor

A flexible, body-mountable analyte sensing device includes a flexible substrate configured for mounting to skin of a living body. The sensing device additionally includes optical fiber attached to the flexible substrate and configured to penetrate the skin such that an analyte-sensitive substance disposed on the end of the optical fiber can detect an analyte in interstitial fluid. A color, fluorescence intensity, or other optical property of the analyte-sensitive substance is related to the concentration or other property of the analyte. Light reflected, scattered, fluorescently emitted, or otherwise emitted from the analyte-sensitive substance is transmitted via the optical fiber and detected by a light sensor on the flexible substrate. Such emitted light can be emitted in response to illumination of the analyte-sensitive substance via the optical fiber. The sensing device is configured to wirelessly indicate detected concentrations or other information about the analyte in the interstitial fluid.

A body-mountable device includes a flexible substrate configured for mounting to a skin surface. The device includes an input component configured to receive inputs from a user, e.g., finger presses, swipes, motions of the sensing platform, or gestures. Received inputs could include calibration data, for example, known values of a sensed property to compare with corresponding values obtained by a sensor of the device. The device can additionally include an output component configured to provide outputs to a user. Outputs could include indications of sensor readings, medical alerts, or operational states of the device. The flexible substrate of the device is configured to be adhered or otherwise mounted to the skin in a manner that minimally impacts activities of the body.
