A closed apparatus of potential fluidization type, for conveying powder materials in a dense bed from a storage region (31) to at least one region to be fed therewith, comprising a storage tank (48) for storing the powder material, referred to as a reserve container, which comprises between the two regions at least one horizontal conveyor (33) formed by a lower duct (35) for a flow of gas, an upper duct (36) for a flow of the powder material and the gas, between which ducts is disposed a porous wall (34), and at least one conduit (38) for feeding gas to the lower duct, which makes it possible to establish a pressure Pf that creates a dense potential-fluidization bed of the powder material that fills the conveyor, by virtue of the presence of at least one balancing column (39), the filling height (56) of which balances the pressure Pf of the potential-fluidization gas, the improvement wherein the closed storage tank or reserve container (48) of the region to be supplied with material, being provided with an inlet for introducing (47) and an outlet for removing (51) the powder material, is also provided with at least one opening (52) disposed above the limit level of filling with powder material, which opening establishes an equilibrium in respect of pressures between the inside and the outside of said reserve container.

Closed apparatus with potential fluidization for horizontally conveying

In a fluidized bed apparatus for separation of two mixed solid phases of which one is formed by a fluidizable powdery material and the other is formed by a material which is not fluidizable under the conditions of fluidization of the former, an enclosure is suspended by springs and formed by a lower casing portion (1) for a flow of gas and an upper casing portion (2) for a flow of fluidized powdery materials, between which there is disposed a porous fluidization wall (3), at least one conduit (4) for feeding gas to the lower casing portion (1) and at least one conduit (5) for discharging the fluidization gas from the upper casing portion (2). The upper casing (2) includes an inlet (6) for the regular introduction of the mixture of the two solid phases to be separated, an overflow (7) on a face of the enclosure for discharge of the fluidized solid phase, and an outlet for discharge of the settled solid phase. The outlet is formed by an opening (13) disposed at the level of the horizontal porous fluidization wall (3) in the partition (12) which is itself disposed towards the end of the upper casing portion (2) opposite the overflow (7). Also included is a vibrator (9) for producing periodic vibration for communicating to the porous wall a vibration having a component oriented in the opposite direction to the overflow.

Fluidized bed for continuous separation of two mixed solid phases

An apparatus for the distribution at a regulated rate of a fluidizable powdery material has a storage container (1), a porous wall and air conduit for fluidizing the powdery material and an orifice for discharging the fluidized powdery material. A casing (2) has two parts, an upper part (2A) connected to the storage container and to the orifice, and a lower part (2B) which is separated from the upper part (2A) by the porous fluidization wall (4). The upper part (2A) of the casing is connected at one of its ends (7A), to the storage container (1) by a column (3), at an upper part of its opposite end, to a balancing and degassing column (6) and, in its lower part (7B), to the outlet orifice (8) for the fluidized powdery material, which is disposed immediately above the level of the porous fluidization wall (4). The lower part (2B) is connected to an intake (5) for fluidization gas at a regulated pressure.
