An improved bearing retainer and a guide block for use with drawer slides having multiple slide members. The bearing retainer comprises a connecting member and upper and lower flanges, with apertures to house bearings, extending from the top and bottom of the connecting member. Extending from the middle portion of the connecting member is an extending member with a protrusion therein. In the alternative runners connecting the upper and lower flanges to the connecting member, have protrusions therein. The protrusion or protrusions lodges into a recess or recesses in a guide block attached to an intermediate or outer slide member as the bearing retainer approaches the guide block during the disconnect activity. The guide block comprises of stops to halt movement of the bearing retainer towards the guide block and to guide an inner slide member to engage the bearing retainer. Extending from the middle portion of the guide block is a capture member which contains the recess adapted to loosely receive the protrusion on the bearing retainer. In the alternative, receivers between the capture member and the stops of the guide block, contain recesses adapted to loosely receive the protrusions on the runners of the bearing retainer.

A floating bumper is provided for a drawer slide rear stop. The bumper has a slot for receiving a rear stop tab. The bumper slot is wider than the tab to permit slight side to side movement of the bumper when the drawer slide is fully retracted and to eliminate tension on the bumper. The rear stop tab has notches to accommodate projections formed within the bumper slot. The bumper projections fit loosely and do not engage the notches unless disengagement of the bumper from the rear stop is attempted. The peripheral edges as well as the slot edges of the bumper are chamfered.

A sequencing latch adapted for use with drawer slides. The sequencing latch comprises a latch arm carried by a slide member, a spring arm extending from the latch arm in compressive contact with the slide member biasing the latch arm into engagement with a locking element on a second slide member and an actuator on a third slide member for disengaging the latch arm. The actuator disengages the latch arm by applying a force to the latch arm with a component oppositely directed and of sufficient magnitude to overcome the compressive spring force. Interaction of the locking element with the latching arm and the interaction of the actuator with the latching arm may both serve as frictional interfaces during slide operation.

A ball-bearing type drawer slide having proximal, intermediate and distal slide members extendable and retractable relative to each other. A latch is carried by a first of the slide members and is engageable with a locking element on a second of the slide members for restricting relative extension of the first and second slide members. The latch is engageable with an actuating element on the third slide member for disengaging the latch from the locking element.

Telescopic drawer slide with mechanical sequencing latch

A locking assembly for a plurality of vertically aligned drawers in a housing that includes a locking member associated with at least each of the drawers and wherein the locking member is arranged for reciprocal vertical movement relative to the housing. A slide mechanism is associated with each of the drawers with each of the slide mechanisms being aligned perpendicular to the locking mechanism and being arranged for reciprocal horizontal extension to move the drawers between closed and opened positions with respect to the housing. Each of the slide mechanisms for at least each of the drawers other than the uppermost drawer includes a ramp section that is structured and dimensioned to engage the locking member when at least any one of the drawers other than the uppermost drawer is opened such that the remaining drawers are locked in a closed position.

A shock absorbing disconnect latch comprises a lever, a wall for limiting travel of a longitudinal channel, and at least one vertical slot in a downwardly sloping body to enable rearward flexing of the disconnect latch for removal of the longitudinal channel. The flexing of the disconnect latch causes the lever to move counterclockwise providing space for the longitudinal channel to be disengaged. The flexing of the disconnect latch permits easy removal of the longitudinal channel, together with reliable return of the lever. When the longitudinal channel is stopped by the wall of the disconnect latch, the shock energy is absorbed using the slot by deflection of the disconnect latch.

The preferred latch device consists of two elements, attached to interfitting longitudinally movable slide members in a relationship to pass adjacent to one another as the slide members move longitudinally. The elements each carry stops which are positioned to engage one another as the elements come into an adjacent relationship to limit further travel of the slide members. One of the elements is pivotally attached to its slide member, and movable both clockwise and counter clockwise, to displace the stops sufficiently to clear its stops on the other element and permit the slide members to be disconnected. Preferably the rear faces of the stops on one element are sloped in parallel planes to engage the stops on the other element as the slide members are being reconnected, and to cam the pivotal element sufficiently to cause the stops to clear one connection, permitting the slide members to be easily reconnected.
