High efficiency non-pulse width modulation communications system and method

An electric field detecting system is provided that comprises a first metal plate, a second metal plate, a sensor and a detector. The sensor has a first metal layer, a second metal layer and a non-linear permittivity dielectric material disposed between the first metal layer and the second metal layer. The first metal layer is electrically connected to the first metal plate, whereas the second metal layer is electrically connected to the second metal plate. The detector can detect a voltage between the first metal layer and the second metal layer and can determine a magnitude of the electric field based on the detected voltage and a priori information related to a variable capacitance of the non-linear permittivity dielectric material.

Sensor for measurement of electrostatic potential without current loading and without mechanical chopping

A system includes at least one capacitor comprising a dielectric material having a Curie temperature, each capacitor exhibiting an increased capacitance at a temperature below the Curie temperature and exhibiting a decreased capacitance at a temperature above the Curie temperature, a liquid source positioned adjacent to the capacitor and having a temperature above the Curie temperature, and means for exposing the capacitor to the liquid source for a predetermined time so the temperature of the dielectric material exceeds the Curie temperature, at which point the capacitance decreases. A voltage storage is connected to the capacitors to capture the increased voltage discharged from the capacitors. The capacitors are then removed from the liquid source and cooled. The capacitors may iteratively be recharged, exposed to the liquid source until their temperature exceeds the Curie temperature, connected to the voltage storage, removed from the liquid source, and cooled.

System and method for capacitive heat to electrical energy conversion

A variable capacitor based electrical generator is described, using a detached conformal electrode that substantially conforms to surface irregularities of the exposed side of the dielectric. The conformal electrode increases the capacitance difference between a contacting state and non-contacting state. Consequently, by displacing the conformal electrode or dielectric, the capacitance can be significantly varied. By pre-charging the electrodes and by providing a displacement power source (wind, vibration, etc), power can be generated and converted into an electrical form. By networking or arranging a plurality of varactors, a significant power generator can be obtained. This system can be operated even at very low frequencies as compared to conventional magnetic generators.

The present subject matter provides heat management while generating hydrogen gas from a hydride achieved by coupling a hydride with a hydrate. The present subject matter unexpectedly provides improved methods so that the heat released by the hydride during hydrolysis is accurately balanced by the heat absorbed by the hydrate as the hydrate undergoes a phase transition to a less hydrated or to an anhydrous form. Examples of heat-moderated hydrogen generating systems are provided, and include, among others: NaBH/NaSO.10HO, NaBH/CoSO.7HO, and NaBH/FeSO.7HO. The subject matter provides a methodology for determining the correct proportions of hydride/hydrate to use in preparing a hydrogen generator capable of operating at a nearly constant temperature at or near a phase transition temperature of the hydrate or at a higher temperature that is still within a desired temperature range, such as, for example, 30-90&#xb0; C.

This invention pertains to a non-contact Qi emission and amplification electronic device. Qi is a Chinese word for the life energy that circulates in human beings. The device is a passive electronic device, that is, it is not powered by any battery or electrical supply. It does not come into contact with the user. The user places the device a few feet away. As such the device is totally safe in terms of dangerous electrical shocks or electromagnetic emissions. The device has a switch to turn it on or off. The switch connects together electronic components, including a piezo-crystal, inside the device. Ambient fluctuations in the voltage of the piezo-crystal may produce an influence field that is broadcasted to an approximately six foot radius surrounding the device. The influence field feels like a cool breeze and affects the user in similar ways to the emitted Qi from Qi Gong practitioners.

This invention pertains to a non-contact electronic device for the enhancement of dreaming. By enhancement it is meant increasing the frequency, the length, the lucidity, and the color of dreaming. For example, one person who dreams in grey shades now dreams in color when using the device. The device will also allow better recall of the dreams. Dream enhancement is generally a pleasant process and promotes a pleasant feeling in the morning after use. The device is a passive electronic device, that is, it is not actively powered. The user places the device a few feet away during sleep. The device uses a piezo-crystal and an iron core. It is believed that ambient fluctuations in the piezo-crystal's voltage produce an influence field that is broadcasted through the iron core to the user a few feet away.

A chopperless ambient field apparatus and method is described having top and bottom sensing plates; a transistor-based device having first, second and third terminals; a first signal line coupled to the top plate and the first terminal of the device; a second signal line coupled to the bottom plate and the second terminal of the device; at least one controllable grounding circuit coupled to at least the first and second plates and to the first terminal of the device; an electrical parameter detector coupled to the second and third terminals of the device; and a protective enclosure disposed about the top and bottom plates, the device, and the detector, wherein with control of the grounding circuit, the detector measures AC fields and quasi-static DC electric fields impinging on the plates. A calibration procedure converts the unit to a DC measuring device.

A real time Schumann frequency (approximately 6-10 Hz) band-based, lightning strike detector system is described, comprising: first and second sensor systems, each sensor system comprising: first and second magnetic field sensors, each sensor having a preferential directional sensitivity, wherein the sensors are arranged with their preferential directional sensitivity substantially orthogonal to each other; signal lines coupled to the sensors; an amplifier to coupled to the signal lines; an output of the amplifier coupled to a processor; and power source coupled to the amplifier and processor, wherein the first and second sensor systems are separated from each other by at least 400 miles, and wherein each sensor system upon detection of a Schumann frequency from a lightning strike provides a respective orientation angle, wherein an intersection of the angles of orientation following a great circle path indicates a location of the lightning strike.

Methods and systems for detection of an electric field generated by the human/animal body can include providing a passive antenna system for detecting changes in the ambient electric field due to interaction of the ambient with the charges generated by the human/animal body, and a high impedance sensor that is fixed to the encapsulated wire antenna. The result is a passive human/animal detection system without any moving parts. The antenna can be an encapsulated wire, and the wire length can be chosen according the desired application. For systems that are intended to detect the presence of a human being or animal, the encapsulated wire can have a length of one hundred feet or more, and a grid of wires can be used for detection within an Area of Interest (AOI).

A lighter than air (LTA) balloon and payload for the LTA balloon are stored on or in an underwater launcher. The launcher provides a source for a supply of a lighter than air gas, which is operatively connected to the LTA balloon until release. On deployment, the lighter than air gas is generated. The LTA balloon is deployed by activating the launcher to fill the LTA balloon and then releases the LTA balloon.

Subsea deployment of aerial payloads utilizing long-term storage of lighter than air gases

This invention pertains to a far-infrared (FIR) material that emits strongly in a narrowly defined wavelength range. Radiation of this particular wavelength range has been found to give a warming effect to the body, give therapeutic effects and to have sanitation effects in terms of the reduction of the bacterial count. This wavelength range is also the wavelength range that the body emits which is 8 to 13 microns and peaks at 10 to 11 microns. Most materials do not strongly emit radiation in this wavelength region. The material must fit two main criteria: (1) Emits in the 8 to 14 micron range. (2) Formable so that it can be made into practical therapeutic tools. A search found a material that meets the above two requirements. It emits strongly and exclusively in the range of 9 to 12 microns and it is formable. Thus it is the ideal material for use in FIR therapeutic tools. Embodiments of several tools are described.

Far infrared emitting material for body warming, therapeutic purposes, and sanitation purposes

A simulator generates a simulated broad-band signal that may include up to nd in excess of 150 harmonics for communication and signal processing applications. Clock signals are fed to a number of counters which cyclically address an EPROM storage that provides a digital waveform pre-programmed as to bandwidth and harmonic content. The digital pre-programmed waveform is fed to a digital to analog converter having a high bit resolution, in excess of 14 bits, so that a broad-band signal having 150 or more harmonics can be accurately generated. The EPROMs may be reprogrammed in accordance with a desired output signal to give a considerable flexibility with regard to bandwidth and harmonic content.
