The present invention is a container for a light-duty automobile such as a light-duty pickup truck or sport-utility vehicle having at least one opening, operably associated with the quarter panel of an automobile, an inner wall operably associated with the container, and a cover having a closed position and an open position operably associated with the opening. The cover includes a door inner, and a door outer. The invention also includes a first rail positioned between the container and the quarter panel. The container is integrally formed with the first rail, and is located between the first rail and the inner wall. The first rail supports the container, and the cover can be moved from the open position to the closed position, allowing access to the container.

Vehicle side article transporter device

A roof rack assembly is provided for storing items above a roof of a motor vehicle. The roof rack assembly includes a pair of rails fixedly secured to the roof, parallel to each other. Each of the rails has a channel therealong. A tray includes a first end slidingly engaging the channel and a second end. The tray is movable between a storage position above the roof and a loading position along the side of the motor vehicle. A pair of pivot arms extends between a receiving end and a pivot end. The receiving end is pivotally coupled to the second end of the tray. A pair of mounting brackets are fixedly secured to the side of the motor vehicle and pivotally coupled to the pivot arms at the pivot end thereof. Each of the mounting brackets includes a stop for limiting pivotal movement of the pivot arms as the tray moves from the storage position to the loading position in order to maintain the tray in the loading position.

Rear loading roof top transporter

A top assembly () selectively covers an open top motor vehicle. The open top motor vehicle has a front mounting edge () and a rear mounting edge (). The top assembly () includes a fabric sheet () and retainers () fixedly secured along front () and rear () edges of the fabric for sealingly engaging with the front and rear edges of the open top. A pair of side frame members () pivotally engages opposite sides of the front and rear retainers (). The side frame members () are movable between a locked condition and a folded condition. When the side frame members are locked, the front and rear retainers () are spaced apart drawing out said fabric sheet () and sealingly engaging the front and rear edges () of the vehicle top opening. When the side frame members () are unlocked, the top assembly folds for removal from the vehicle and storage.

Removeable fabric top for vehicle

A hinge assembly pivotally attaching a tonneau cover panel to a cargo bed of a motor vehicle. The hinge assembly includes an attachment bracket fixedly secured to the cargo bed of the motor vehicle. The attachment bracket defines a slot extending between a closed end and an open end, and the slot includes a pocket disposed adjacent the open end. The hinge assembly also includes a panel bracket fixedly secured to the tonneau cover panel. The panel bracket includes a base and a distal end defining an end aperture. The end aperture is alignable with the slot. In addition, the hinge assembly includes an attachment pin extending through the end aperture and received within the slot for movably securing the panel bracket with the attachment bracket. The movement of the panel bracket between the closed end and the open end moves the tonneau cover panel between a closed and a partially open position, and the movement of the attachment pin from the open end into the pocket allows pivotal movement of the tonneau cover panel from the partially open position to a fully open position.

A roof rack assembly for transporting articles along a roof of a motor vehicle includes a frame member extending along the roof. The roof rack assembly also includes an electronic component for receiving and transmitting signals to an interior portion of the motor vehicle.

Roof article transporter assembly

A roof rack assembly is provided for storage of items above a roof of a motor vehicle. The roof rack assembly includes a frame having front and rear guides extending across the roof. A front rail slidingly engages the front guide, and a rear rail slidingly engages the rear guide. A tray is coupled to the front and rear guides. The tray is movable between a storage position above the roof and a loading position alongside the motor vehicle. A plurality of drop down links extends between the tray and each of the front and rear rails. The plurality of drop down links maintains the tray in a horizontal orientation as the tray moves between the storage and loading positions. A scissor linkage extends between the plurality of drop down links to selectively lock the tray in the loading position.

Side service storage apparatus

A running board assembly accommodates access to a motor vehicle. The running board assembly includes a plurality of mounting brackets fixedly secured to the motor vehicle and extending therebelow. The running board assembly also includes a step movably secured to the plurality of brackets. The step defines a stepping surface and a peripheral edge extending around a portion of the stepping surface. The step is movable between a deployed position providing access to the stepping surface and a stowed position wherein the peripheral edge abuts the motor vehicle to cover the stepping surface during non-use.

Power operated running board

A hinge assembly pivotally attaching a tonneau cover panel to a cargo bed of a motor vehicle. The hinge assembly includes a attachment bracket fixedly secured to the cargo bed of the motor vehicle. The attachment bracket defines a slot extending between a closed end and an open end, and the slot includes a pocket disposed adjacent the open end. The hinge assembly also includes a panel bracket fixedly secured to the tonneau cover panel. The panel bracket includes a base and a distal and defining an end aperture. The end aperture is alignable with the slot. In addition, the hinge assembly includes an attachment pin extending through the end aperture and received within the slot for movably securing the panel bracket with the attachment bracket. The movement of the panel bracket between the closed end and the open end moves the tonneau cover panel between a closed and a partially open position, and the movement of the attachment pin from the open end into the pocket allows pivotal movement of the tonneau cover panel from the partially open position to a fully open position.

A hinge assembly for securing a folding fabric top of an automotive vehicle between an open and closed position includes a front pivot bracket pivotally connected to a rear pivot bracket for pivotal movement between the closed position wherein the brackets are aligned axially and the open position wherein the brackets are overlapping. A first locking tab extends from each of said front and rear pivot brackets for releasably interlocking and retaining the brackets in the axially aligned closed position. A second locking tab extends from each of the front and rear pivot brackets for releasably interlocking and retaining the brackets in the overlapping open position. The front and rear pivot brackets support respective front and rear support frames supporting and attaching a folding fabric top to the automotive vehicle for pivotal movement between the open and closed positions.

A motor vehicle protection assembly secured to and extending out from a frame of a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle protection assembly absorbs force during an impact of the motor vehicle with another object. The motor vehicle protection assembly includes an attachment bracket fixedly secured to the frame. In addition, the motor vehicle protection assembly includes an impact panel fixedly secured to the attachment bracket and extending between a leading end and a trailing end. The impact panel includes a collapsible region. When the object impacts the leading end, the force created by the impact is absorbed by the collapsible region to reduce the force received and absorbed by the object.

Pedestrian safety system having lower leg impact

A door assembly with upper and lower door portions. The upper door portion has a window section with one or more clear panels mounted in a frame member. In use, the entire upper door portion including the frame member and window section can be removed as a unit and conveniently stored in a pocket or cavity in the lower door portion. The window section in one embodiment has a vertically retractable panel and in another, two clear panels are provided that can be slid horizontally to open the window area. Another embodiment has a folding or pivoting upper door portion which can be collapsed on itself and conveniently stored in the cavity or pocket of the lower door portion.

Door assembly for a sport utility or similar vehicle

A panel assembly is securable to a front end of a motor vehicle for positioning and securing a plurality of elements thereto. The panel assembly has a core connectable to the front end of a motor vehicle. A skin covers the core. A component mounting structure is molded to the skin. The component mounting structure is adapted to have the plurality of elements attached thereto in spaced relation. The panel assembly may be assembled to the motor vehicle with the plurality of elements secured thereto.

Composite component integration panel for a motor vehicle

A vehicle roof panel includes a roof portion and roof rack portion with an integrally embossed portion defined by longitudinally extending spaced apart side portions. A side rail is attached to each of the side portions. A cross member has connectors for selectively and slidably interconnecting to the side rail thereby retaining the cross member elevated above the planar surface of the roof panel.
