A composite sheet material for making industrial air pollution control filters where the composite sheet material includes a porous, non-filtering, electrostatic dissipation substrate on which is bonded a thin, high efficiency filter layer. Before application of the filter layer, both sides of the porous substrate are imprinted with a pattern of spaced apart, parallel lines of conductive ink which penetrate over 50% of the substrate thickness so that the pattern on one side meets at intersections within the substrate with the pattern on the opposite side to provide a series of continuous, uninterrupted electrostatic discharge pathways running through the substrate to dissipate static electricity charges. The composite sheet material may be pleated and formed as a tube for making baghouse filter cartridges.

Composite filter and electrostatic dissipation material

A high efficiency, stepped-top cartridge filter with a separate flow transition insert for installation in a uniform circular or oblong hole of a baghouse tube sheet. The cartridge includes a tubular core supporting a tube of pleated filter media to form a pleat pack having a molded cap at its lower end A open-mouthed, molded top fitting includes an upper flange, a side wall and a stepped portion leading to the bore of the filter. The flow transition insert is pressed into the top fitting to create a seal with the hole in the tube sheet. The insert includes an aerodynamically contoured mouth leading to a bore corresponding to the bore of the filter and further defines an air passageway between the top fitting and the insert for supplying tertiary cleaning air to supplement the primary and secondary air flows during a cleaning cycle.

Cartridge filter with flow transition insert

A high efficiency unitary cartridge filter for installation with a separate sealing gasket in a generally uniform circular or oblong hole of a baghouse tube sheet. The cartridge includes a plastic or metal tubular core around which is wrapped elongate pleated filter media to form a pleat pack. The pleat pack is sealed at the lower end thereof by a molded cap. A molded upper fitting includes an aerodynamically contoured transition mouth comprising compound radii of curvatures and a bore which closely corresponds to the bore of the tubular core for improved cleaning power and increased pressure during a cleaning cycle and for reduced pressure drop during normal filtering operation. The molded top may optionally incorporate and bond with a metal collar for added structural integrity and may also incorporate electrical grounding elements for grounding a metal core to the baghouse tube sheet.

A composite filter media structure includes, in an exemplary embodiment, a base substrate that includes a nonwoven synthetic fabric formed from a plurality of fibers with a spunbond process. The base substrate has a minimum filtration efficiency of about 50%, measured in accordance with ASHRAE 52.2-1999 test procedure A nanofiber layer is deposited on one side of the base substrate. The composite filter media structure has a minimum filtration efficiency of about 75%, measured in accordance with ASHRAE 52.2-1999 test procedure.

Composite filter media

A composite filter media structure and an associated method of making are provided. The structure includes a base substrate that includes a nonwoven fabric substrate formed from a plurality of bicomponent synthetic fibers using a spunbond process. The composite filter media structure includes a surface layer deposited on one side of the base substrate where a thermal lamination process can be used to combine the base substrate and the surface layer. The surface layer is formed from a microporous expanded polytetrafluoroethylene membrane. In one aspect, the base substrate and the surface layer are configured to provide greater than 95% and equal to or less than 99.5% filtration efficiency measured in accordance with an EN 1822 test method. In another aspect, the filter media includes an embossing pattern or a plurality of corrugations formed using opposing rollers at a temperature of about 90&#xb0; C. to about 140&#xb0; C.

High performance gas turbine inlet filter (HEPA) using membrane media

A composite filter media structure and an associated method of making are provided. The structure includes a base substrate that includes a nonwoven fabric substrate formed from a plurality of bicomponent synthetic fibers using a spunbond process. The composite filter media structure includes a nanofiber layer deposited on one side of the base substrate by an electro-blown spinning process. In one aspect, the base substrate and the nanofiber layer are configured to provide at least an 85% filtration efficiency measured in accordance with an ASHRAE 52.2-1999 test method. In another aspect, the nanofiber layer has a basis weight of about 2.0 g/mto about 3.0 g/m.

HEPA (H-10) performance synthetic nonwoven and nanofiber composite filter media

A system for use with an inlet of a gas turbine through which an airflow toward the gas turbine proceeds is provided and includes a first self-cleaning stage to remove dust, snow and ice from the airflow, a second water tight stage, disposed downstream from the first stage, to prevent aerosol droplets and aqueous solutions of deliquesced particulates, which include at least portions of the dust not removed by the first stage and which are re-released into the airflow from the first stage, from proceeding along the airflow and to remove solid particulates not removed by the first stage from the airflow, and a third water removal stage, disposed downstream from the second stage, to remove from the airflow aerosol droplets leaking from the second stage.

Filtration system for gas turbines

A system for use with an inlet of a gas turbine through which airflow toward the gas turbine proceeds is provided and includes a first stage to remove primary aerosol droplets from the airflow by coalescing the primary aerosol droplets into secondary aerosol droplets, which are larger than the primary aerosol droplets, and to remove solid particulates from the airflow, a second water tight stage, disposed downstream from the first stage, to prevent the secondary aerosol droplets and aqueous solutions of deliquesced particulates, which are not removed by the first stage and which are re-released into the airflow from the first stage, from proceeding along the airflow and to remove solid particulates not removed by the first stage from the airflow, and a third water removal stage, disposed downstream from the second stage, to remove from the airflow the remaining secondary aerosol droplets leaking from the first and second stages.

A filter element includes, in an exemplary embodiment, a first end cap, a second end cap, and a composite filter media structure. The composite filter media structure includes a base substrate that includes a nonwoven synthetic fabric formed from a plurality of bicomponent synthetic fibers with a spunbond process, and having a bond area pattern having a plurality of substantially parallel discontinuous lines of bond area. The base substrate having a minimum filtration efficiency of about 50%, measured in accordance with ASHRAE 52.2-1999 test procedure. The composite filter media structure also includes a nanofiber layer deposited on one side of the base substrate by an by electro-blown spinning process. The composite filter media structure having a minimum filtration efficiency of about 75%, measured in accordance with ASHRAE 52.2-1999 test procedure. The composite media structure further includes a plurality of corrugations formed at a temperature of about 90&#xb0; C. to about 140&#xb0; C.

A method of making a composite filter media includes, in an exemplary embodiment, forming a nonwoven fabric mat that includes a plurality of synthetic fibers by a spunbond process, and calendaring the nonwoven fabric mat with embossing calendar rolls to form a bond area pattern comprising a plurality of substantially parallel discontinuous lines of bond area to bond the synthetic fibers together to form a nonwoven fabric, the nonwoven fabric having a minimum filtration efficiency of about 50%, measured in accordance with ASHRAE 52.2-1999 test procedure. The method also includes applying a nanofiber layer by electro-blown spinning a polymer solution to form a plurality of nanofibers on at least one side of the nonwoven fabric mat to form the composite filter media, the composite filter media having a minimum filtration efficiency of about 75%, measured in accordance with ASHRAE 52.2-1999 test procedure.

Method of manufacturing a composite filter media

A baghouse and filter assembly are provided for at least partially removing particulate matter from a gas stream. The filter assembly includes first and second filter portions to be coupled together by a coupler for establishing fluid communication between the first and second filter portions when connected. The coupler includes a first coupling portion including a side wall defining an interior passage through which the gas stream can pass in an axial direction between the first and second filter portions, and one or more flanges projecting from said side wall, the one or more flanges supporting a plurality of male studs. The coupler further includes a second coupling portion including a plurality of female keyhole-shaped receivers spaced apart for receiving at least a portion of the male studs and coupling the first coupling portion to the second coupling portion.

A baghouse and filter assembly are provided for at least partially removing particulate matter from a gas stream. The filter assembly includes a first filter portion to be supported within the baghouse adjacent to an opening defined by a tube sheet, a first generally-tubular frame, and a first pleated filter media adjacent to the first generally-tubular frame. A second filter portion includes a second generally-tubular frame and a second pleated filter media disposed adjacent to the second generally-tubular frame. A coupler is provided for connecting the first filter portion to the second filter portion and establishing fluid communication between the first and second filter portions when connected. The coupling includes a first coupling portion including a side wall defining a receiver, as well as a lug clip disposed adjacent to the receiver. The lug clip us substantially-elastically displaced in a radial direction from an unbiased position during connection of the first and second filter portions.

Cartridge filter gasket

A cleaning system for a gas turbine inlet filter mounted to a tubesheet. The filter defines an upstream side at which particulates are separated from a fluid stream passing through the filter and a downstream side substantially free of the particulates. The cleaning system includes a blowpipe for supplying a pressurized fluid. A one-piece nozzle is made from a tubular member having a substantially constant cross-section extending along the length of the member. The nozzle is permanently attached to the blowpipe at a first end portion. The nozzle is in fluid communication with the blowpipe to direct a cleaning pulse of the pressurized fluid from a second opposite end portion into the downstream side of the filter to dislodge particulates into the upstream side. An aspirator is formed in the nozzle at an upstream location spaced from the second end portion of the nozzle. The aspirator enables an additional volume of fluid to be delivered from the second end portion of the nozzle than is delivered from the blowpipe to the first end portion of the nozzle. A diffuser is fixed to at least one of the blowpipe and the nozzle. The diffuser directs a portion of the cleaning pulse to a proximal portion of the filter located adjacent to the tubesheet.
