An apparatus and process for testing a panel for strength and stiffness has the ability to handle panels of different thicknesses, and also has a temperature sensor so that panels can be tested hot and the cold end use strength and stiffness correlated. The apparatus moves the panel in an 'S' shaped path through a series of rollers, and measures the load to deflect the panel a predetermined distance for different thicknesses of panels. An algorithm is used to correlate the cold end use strength and stiffness values from the temperature and loading figures.

Temperature compensating continuous panel tester

A liquid dispenser is disclosed for application of herbicides and the like. The dispenser overcomes problems of applying herbicides because it avoids liquid spilling on an operator and provides a controlled application to a specific area. The dispenser includes in combination a dispenser for discharging liquid and a holster for holding the dispenser. The dispenser comprises a squeezable liquid container having a connection to a valved nozzle portion, the valve nozzle portion having a valve to open and close a liquid passage to at least one nozzle, the valve having a pivoted operating arm extending up along side the container, a spring adapted to pivot the arm from adjacent the container, providing a closed position for the valve, to a position away from the container providing an open position for the valve, and the holster adapted to hold the dispenser with the nozzle at the bottom thereof, the valved nozzle portion covered, and the operating arm adjacent the container with the valve in the closed position, the holster having structure for attachment to an operator.

Valved liquid dispenser and holster

A method and an apparatus is disclosed for forming a multi-layered container of compressible sheet layers, such as corrugated board. The containers are formed in a single operation and avoids the known techniques of folding the layers before laminating in multistep methods. Furthermore, the container may be folded without the layers separating. The method of forming a multi-layered container having a plurality of flat sides with corners between adjacent sides comprises winding compressible sheet layers on a forming mandrel. In the process, one edge of a layer is attached adjacent to a corner of a mandrel, a shoe plate applies pressure to the layer against the mandrel as it rotates to maintain a substantially constant pressure and tension on the layer. An additional momentary force is applied to the shoe plate as each corner of the mandrel passes over the shoe plate such that the layer at each corner is compressed.
