A method for providing a therapeutic benefit includes receiving sensor data from one or more physiological sensors associated with a person and determining whether the sensor data exceeds a threshold. When the sensor data exceeds the threshold, a controller activates a first tactile stimulator to provide a first stimulation for a first period when the sensor data exceeds the threshold and then activates a second tactile stimulator to apply a second stimulation for a second period beginning at least commensurate with a cessation of (at the same time or overlapping) the first period. The bi-lateral stimulation is repeated for a therapeutically effective number of repetitions such that the first and second stimulations are applied bi-laterally to the body of the person without the individual perceiving a pause in stimulation between the first stimulation and second stimulation to provide the therapeutic benefit to the person.

System and method for reducing stress

Provided are methods of regulating stress comprising providing an individual with bilaterally-position-able stimulation devices and a mobile device controller comprising memory including initial stimulation settings applied in response to event-associated sensor data and population data associated with bilateral stimulation stress reduction; placing sensor(s) near/on the individual; analyzing sensor data to assess if may indicate a new stress-increasing event/condition, causing the mobile device processor to determine if any such new event/condition is learnable, causing the controller to generate a proposed new stimulation model regarding any learnable event/condition, evaluating the proposed new stimulation model by comparing the new event/condition to the population data, the event or condition of the initial model, or both, and adopting and applying the proposed new stimulation model if the new stimulation model does not vary from the population data, the event/condition of the initial model, or both, by more than a pre-programmed percentage.

A method for providing a therapeutic benefit to a person is disclosed which includes a processor that executes a first function to determine a physiological parameter from one or more physiological sensors positioned on the person and then the processor executes a second function to determine at least one second physiological parameter from the one or more physiological sensors or an environmental parameter from one or more environmental sensors associated with the location of the person. Next, the processor uses either the first and second physiological parameters or the first physiological parameter and the environmental parameter to determine whether to apply bi-lateral stimulation to the person; activating first and second stimulators positioned bi-laterally on the person to initiate bi-lateral stimulation for a therapeutically effective time period when the processor determines to apply bi-lateral stimulation.

A communication system, method, and computer program product supported by electro-dermal monitoring physiological signals at the surface of the skin. The system includes a garment comprising an electro-dermal interface. The interface includes two or more electrodes in an array of electrodes. The electrodes are associated with three or more polarities. Two or more measurement circuits associated with respective measurement functions are in communication with the electrodes, including a first measurement circuit associated with a first measurement function and a second measurement circuit associated with a second measurement function. Switching circuitry comprising two or more pole switches, with each switch in communication with a respective electrode. A controller is in communication with the switching circuitry to change a measurement function. Changing the measurement function includes changing a polarity associated with at least one of the electrodes.

Electrodermal interface system

A haptic communication system having a range of sensors embedded with an operator's attire. Data collected by the sensors is processed by a computing device local to the operator and is communicated via a haptic modality in real-time to other team members and robotic assets in the system.

Haptic automated communication system

Marking material is dispensed onto a target surface using a marking device, and one or more images are captured by one or more camera systems attached to the marking device. The image(s) is/are analyzed to determine tracking information indicative of the a motion or an orientation of the marking device. The tracking information is analyzed to determine marking information relating to the dispensed marking material. In one example, the image(s) is/are analyzed to obtain an optical flow plot indicative of a path on the target surface traversed by the marking device. One or more reference plots respectively representing a plurality of reference marking patterns are compared to one or more portions of the optical flow plot to identify at least one reference marking pattern that substantially matches the portion(s) of the optical flow plot.

Methods and apparatus for tracking motion and/or orientation of a marking device

Systems, methods, and apparatus for performing surface type detection in connection with locate and marking operations. In some embodiments, one or more sensors may be employed to collect information regarding a ground surface on which marking material is to be dispensed which is then analyzed to provide an estimate of a type of the surface. For example, a still-image or video camera may be used as a sensor that detects visible light reflecting from a surface. One or more images captured by the camera may be analyzed using analysis software to identify one or more characteristics indicative of a surface type. As another example, one or more radiation sensors may be employed to measure an amount of electromagnetic radiation reflected by the sensed surface one or more selected wavelengths or ranges of wavelengths to identify a spectral signature that may also be indicative of a surface type.

Methods, apparatus and systems for surface type detection in connection with locate and marking operations

An apparatus equipped with an electronic camera, lensed optics, and a visual display in communication with the optics. An analog or digital video signal is conveyed to an operator of the apparatus through the visual display. The apparatus includes an embedded processor to track the orientation and position of the apparatus. Orientation and position information of the apparatus is used to dynamically recalculate display information. In addition, the apparatus may be in communication with a remote device having digital camera optics. Orientation and position information of the apparatus may be conveyed to the remote device to alter the orientation and position of the associated electronic camera optics. The global position and orientation data is refined through the use of a machine vision algorithm. Accordingly, data conveyed to the operator of the apparatus is in relation to the orientation and position of the apparatus and/or the associated orientation and position of the remote device.

Operator control unit with tracking

A method and system are provided to support simultaneous operation of a weapon and communication with a remote apparatus. The system utilizes a control module with a transceiver in communication with a receiver of a remote apparatus and/or output device.

Mounted isometric controller

An apparatus equipped with an electronic camera, lensed optics, and a visual display in communication with the optics. An analog or digital video signal is conveyed to an operator of the apparatus through the visual display. The apparatus includes an embedded processor to track the orientation and position of the apparatus. Orientation and position information of the apparatus is used to dynamically recalculate display information. A robotic apparatus and system adapted to communicate with a wireless sensor. The apparatus may be either physical or virtual in nature and is adapted to communicate physical movements with a wireless sensor. Data received from the sensor and/or robotic apparatus may be reviewed in a real-time mode, or may be saved for review at a later time. In addition, the apparatus may be controlled through an operator that is in local or remote communication with the apparatus. The robotic system may include pre-programmed interactive platforms for enabling communication between a user and the apparatus in a dynamic mode. In addition, the system may allow an operator to program a game/story for use as an interactive platform. Accordingly, the apparatus and system provides a platform for rehabilitative exercise of a patient as well as an entertainment device.
