A method is provided for extracting cellular compounds from micro-organisms. The method includes culturing the micro-organisms and extracting the cellular compounds from the micro-organisms. Each step is carried out in a continuous manner, wherein the extraction step is carried out separately from the culture step and in conditions of biocompatibility with the micro-organisms. The method further includes at least one step of recovering the cellular compounds and at least one step of recirculating the micro-organisms towards the culture step.

The present invention relates to a centrifugal partitioning chromatography device for separating a liquid having at least two phases, and to a centrifugal partitioning chromatography method implemented by this device. A chromatography device according to the invention comprises at least one flat ring () which can be rotated about its axis (X'X) of symmetry and comprises a multitude of cells () through which the liquid is intended to flow, each cell being provided with two input/output channels (and) that are intended to make the liquid flow from one cell to another and which open respectively via two inlet/outlet orifices (and) of the cell on two radially internal and external sides (and) of the latter with respect to the axis of rotation. According to the invention, this device is such that, for at least some of this multitude of cells, these orifices opening into one and the same cell are placed on the same side of a radial line (D) of the ring passing through the axis and through the center of gravity (G) of the cell, seen in radial cross section.

Centrifugal partitioning chromatography device and method implemented by this device

Method for sizing the cells of a centrifugal liquid-liquid chromatography 'column' (CPC column) consisting of stacked discs on which the cells connected in cascade (in series) by small channels are engraved. Rotation of the stack creates a high centrifugal acceleration field which makes it possible to keep a liquid phase referred to as stationary phase motionless, whereas a mobile phase circulates along the CPC column. The cells are three-dimensional, with two dimensions (L, l) of the cells oriented in a plane substantially normal to the axis of rotation (&#x3a9;) of the disc and a third dimension (e) oriented in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of rotation, and selected so as to be at least equal to one of the other two dimensions (L, l), thus providing higher efficiency. When the scale of the devices has to be changed, the size of the cells is modified ensuring that, in any case, this third dimension (e) is favored so as to be as great as possible. Applications: design of analytic or preparative chromatography devices.

The invention relates to a method of improving the transfer in an annular biological reaction chamber defined by coaxial inner and outer walls ( ) and in which there flows a liquid reaction medium containing a culture of microorganisms or of cells from vegetable or animal macroorganisms in suspension. At least one of the walls is an exchange wall enabling gaseous or liquid matter to be transferred or allowing light to pass through. The reaction medium is subjected to a turbulent primary flow that is helical and that under the action of centrifugal force creates rotary secondary vortices so as to encourage renewal of the culture in the vicinity of the exchange wall.
