Methods, systems and programs for denoising a signal using an undecimated discrete wavelet transformation are provided. The methods use signal location windows. The signal location windows may be used before or after thresholding. When signal location windows are used after thresholding coefficients within the signal location windows may be restored to their original values. When signal location windows are used before thresholding, coefficients within the signal location windows may be unchanged by the thresholding. The signal location windows may be used only on a subset of decomposition levels that are thresholded. The signal location windows may be used on both the Detail components and the highest decomposition level for thresholding of the Approximation component.

Wavelet denoising using signal location windowing

Methods, systems and programs for denoising a signal using discrete wavelet transformation are provided. For example, a method for denoising a signal may include determining a number of resolution levels to denoise, determining variable threshold(s) for each resolution level, applying the determined variable threshold(s) to denoise at least a detail component of each of the determined resolution levels. Each variable threshold includes a separately determined lower threshold and upper threshold. The method for denoising a signal may further include transforming, using an inverse discrete wavelet transformation, at least the denoised detail component for each of the determined resolution levels into a denoised signal.

Systems, methods and programs for denoising signals using wavelets

ESR microscope systems and methods for examining specimens using both continuous wave and pulsed modes in the 9 to 60 GHz range. The ESR microscope uses an image probe comprising gradient coils in addition to conventional modulation coils (in continuous wave mode) or magnetic field bias coils (in pulse mode), and a resonator constructed from high permittivity material. The systems and methods also involves the use of sample containers that permit the precise placement of samples in relation to the image probe. The microscope uses a microstrip or thin coaxial or dielectric antenna to obtain a high coupling coefficient to the specimen being imaged. The microscope systems provide resolution at the single micron level, and permit the observation of images comprising tens to hundreds of pixels for each of two or three dimensions in a few minutes. Novel stable radicals used as the imaging media are also described.

Electron spin resonance microscope for imaging with micron resolution

A variable-coupling quasioptical electron paramagnetic resonance apparatus. In one embodiment, the variable-coupling quasioptical electron paramagnetic resonance apparatus includes a variable coupling quasioptical resonance cavity constructed from two back-to-back Fabry-Perot interferometers. One Fabry-Perot interferometer is formed from two partially reflecting mirrors. The second Fabry-Perot interferometer is an interferometer formed from one of the partially reflecting mirrors and a back mirror. A sample to be studied is placed within the cavity adjacent the partially reflecting mirrors and between one of the partially reflecting mirrors and the back mirror. The relative spacing of the partially reflecting mirrors and the back mirror is adjustable. With this arrangement, the interferometer can be made to act as a single mirror with variable reflectivity, thereby permitting incident radiation reaching the sample to be varied precisely and continuously.

Variable-coupling quasioptical electron resonance apparatus

Aminoxyl-containing radical is provided in polymers and copolymers by replacing a hydroxyl moiety in a carboxyl group at a chain end of a starting material biodegradable polymer or copolymer with imino or oxy linked to aminoxyl-containing radical to form an amide linkage or an oxycarbonyl linkage at the chain end of biocompatible polymers or copolymers to the aminoxyl-containing radical. Preferred starting material polymers and copolymers are prepared from the hydroxy alkyl carboxylic acid monomers glycolic acid and lactic acid. Preferred aminoxyl-containing radical is 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxy. Product polymers are useful for aminoxyl-containing radical treatment of tumors, and to increase the efficiency of chemotherapy and ionizing radiation therapy of tumors and for the reconstruction of injured, diseased, or aged human blood vessels.
