A flexible printing plate is mounted on a print cylinder by first disposing the plate on a porous transparent panel and securing the plate in place by drawing a vacuum on the side of the porous panel opposite the plate. The panel is pivoted to a position where an operator may view the printing side of the plate and adjust the same according to indicia on the panel to insure proper alignment. Next the panel is rotated to a position where the exposed surface of the plate may be brought into contact with a properly aligned print cylinder. Adhesive on the cylinder will bond it to the plate in line contact and after the vacuum is released the free ends of the flexible plate will be drawn around the print cylinder.

Apparatus and process for aligning a plate and mounting it on a print

Information from a weather radar system (10) is gathered by a data transmitter (20) and sent to a data receiver (25) via a telephone or data line (30). The radar video information for each radial is divided into segments and temporarily stored in a memory (45). Only the information in those segments which are to be recorded in a random access memory (140) in the data receiver (25) are transmitted. The selection within the data transmitter (20) is made by a programmable read-only memory (95), and the placement of the data into the receiver random access memory (140) is made by programmable read-only memories (130 and 135). Synchronizing pulses representing each radial (102) and antenna position (14) are also transmitted.

Television weather radar system

A non-duplicative switching arrangement for controlling a video or radio frequency switch is used in a cable television system for controlling the application of a distant station signal to the cable system to eliminate duplication in programming. A clock provides an output indicative of the day and time while a timing means, responsive to the output of the clock provides timing signals. Switching is programmed on a transparent matrix disc which has a plurality of concentric circular rows of matrix positions. Each row corresponds to a day of the week and the matrix positions are aligned radially with respect to the disc in columns which correspond to daily time segments. The light transmitting characteristics of selected ones of the matrix positions are altered impermanently in order to program the switching arrangement. A stepping motor is provided for rotating the disc at predetermined times and an optical reader determines the light transmitting characteristics at each successive matrix position. A motor is provided for actuating the switch into one of its switching states in dependence upon the output from the optical reader. Additional switches may be controlled by providing slave switching control units. Each slave unit is substantially the same as the first control unit with the exception that the slave units rely upon the clock and timing means of the first unit.

Programmable non-duplication switching device

A signal strength meter indicates signal level directly in dBmV. The signal under test is attenuated to a level which centers a meter indicator, and the attenuator movement is translated into numerical direct reading information of signal level. Push button switches select a channel for testing, and each switch incorporates gain compensation for the frequency of the signal to be tested. Within each channel the operator can select between audio and video carrier frequency.

Field strength meter

A cable television tap connector box for connecting one or more tap cables to the distribution cable includes a first and second cover shell. A circuit board on which is wired an isolation circuit is mounted on the first cover shell. The second cover shell is adapted to be joined to the first cover shell to form the hollow connector box cover which encloses the circuit board. The second cover shell defines input and output openings for the distribution cable. First and second connector means are provided in the connector box for connection with the distribution cable. Each connector means includes a first annular seizure insulator mounted on the circuit board and a second annular seizure insulator mounted on the second cover shell. When the first and second cover shells are joined to form the hollow connector box cover, open ended cable engaging slots in the end of the second annular seizure insulator are closed by the first annular insulator such that a distribution cable conductor positioned in the slots is engaged. A threaded cable engaging screw mounted centrally in the first annular seizure insulator electrically contacts the engaged distribution cable conductor. This tap connector box permits removal and replacement of the circuit board without removing the distribution cable conductors from the connector box.

Disclosed is an improved switch particularly adapted to be used as a coaxial cable switch for cable television systems because of its superior isolation of the signal inputs. The switch comprises an electrically insulating body, first, second and third terminals located on the body in spaced relationship, a movably mounted contact, which is movable along a predetermined path to form alternative conductive paths between the first terminal and either of the second or third terminals, and a partition means between said terminals and located adjacent the path of the contact to form a barrier to radiated signals from whichever of the second and third terminals that is not in contact with the movable contact. Additionally, terminating means for the unused terminal and/or shielding means to further isolate the unused terminal from the used terminal can be provided.
