A powered vacuum is mounted between a tractor carrying a rotary mower and a trailer carrying a receptacle for moving material from the mower discharge to the receptacle. A mounting frame carries a blower which may include either an internal combustion engine or gearbox and a fan coupled directly to the engine or gearbox. The mounting frame is mounted to the tractor by connections defining three coplanar ball joints located to permit relative pitch and roll between the tractor and trailer. The mounting frame is easily releasably secured to the tongue of the trailer. The mounting frame is articulated between its opposite ends for movement about a tight vertical axis. The mounting frame, in one form, defines a receptacle for receiving a support member of a wheeled dolly for supporting the powered vacuum when the mounting frame is disconnected from the tractor and trailer, and in another form includes retractable wheels which may be selectively placed in an operative condition for supporting the vacuum.

This invention relates to an improved steering and suspension system for use on off-road type vehicles. The system comprises a gear train at each drive wheel made up of three gears: an input gear, an intermediate gear and an output gear. The input gear is mounted on a driven output shaft which extends out of the differential of the vehicle. The output gear is mounted on an outwardly extending shaft which is retained in a gear case which surrounds the entire gear train. Rotatably attached to this gear case is a tubular hub with a pivotally attached yoke. The yoke supports the axle on which the drive wheel is mounted. Positioned within the area defined by the tubular hub and the yoke are two pairs of intermeshing bevel gears. These bevel gears unite the outwardly extending shaft with the axle and allow torque to be transmitted from the engine of the vehicle to the drive wheels. Also included in this system are two pivotally connected arms which unite the tubular hub to the frame of the vehicle. These two linkage arms cooperate with attached actuating and suspension means to retain the pivot axis of the yoke in an upright position.

A drive and suspension system for a longitudinally extending vehicle includes a differential having a pair of laterally extending output shafts. The output shafts support a pair of longitudinally extending gear train supports which journal and enclose a pair of longitudinally extending gear trains driven off the output shaft to drive the vehicle's drive wheels. The gear train supports, which are pivotal relative to the output shafts, are connected proximate the drive wheels to a pair of spring suspensions which in turn are connected to the ends of a laterally extending walking beam which is pivotable on a longitudinal axis of the vehicle.

An earthworking tool suspension system composed of a pair of vertically disposed and fore-and-aft extending four bar linkages in which the coupler link of the front linkage is the base link of the rear linkage, the tool standard has an upper part that is pivotally connected to the lower link of the front linkage and the coupler link of the second linkage, and the part serves as the lower link of the rear four bar linkage. A biasing means is provided and is connected to both four bar linkages. The front four bar linkage permits the tool to float vertically with little change in attitude. The two four bar linkages in series permit the tool to rotate and rise relative to the main frame of the implement, when the tool strikes an obstruction requiring such action.
