A method for controlling dosing of droplet delivery device includes providing a droplet delivery device, such as an inhaler, to a user, verifying a location of the user with the droplet delivery device, such as by GPS, and enabling dosing of the drug in droplets ejected from the device based on the verifying of the location of the user.

An electronically actuated droplet delivery device includes a housing with an airflow exit at a mouthpiece and an airflow entrance in fluid communication with the airflow exit via an airflow channel. An aperture plate coupled to an electronic actuator energized by a power source produces a droplet plume from a fluid reservoir in fluid communication with the aperture plate. A change of airflow trajectory in the airflow channel and/or a fan provides inertial filtering and removal of droplets in the plume that have a mass mean aerodynamic diameter greater than 5 μm.

A droplet delivery device and related methods for delivering precise and repeatable dosages to a subject for pulmonary use is disclosed. The droplet delivery device includes a housing, a reservoir, and ejector mechanism, and at least one differential pressure sensor. The droplet delivery device is automatically breath actuated by the user when the differential pressure sensor senses a predetermined pressure change within housing. The droplet delivery device is then actuated to generate a stream of droplets having an average ejected droplet diameter within the respirable size range, e.g, less than about 5 &#x3bc;m, so as to target the pulmonary system of the user.

Systems and methods for improved personal monitoring systems and devices include the provision of sensor data from a personal monitoring device to a server system. The sensor device is provided to the server system at a first rate and subsequently analyzed by the server system. If the server system determines that a particular condition is met based on the sensor data the server system transmits a reconfiguration message to the personal monitoring device that causes the personal monitoring device to automatically begin providing data at a second rate. Among other things, the condition resulting in generation and transmission of the reconfiguration message may include a location-based condition (e.g., crossing a geographic boundary), a change in an environmental condition (e.g., temperature or air quality), or a movement-based condition (e.g., an acceleration indicative of a fall or collision).
