Bus bar electrical interconnection system adapted for use with an irregularly-shaped eye-shield and adapted for interconnection with leads from a battery to power a heating element affixed to the eye-shield, the interconnection system having bus bars, each bus bar adapted for connection with a lead from the battery, one or more of the bus bars having at least one protruding configuration alteration providing a partial contact surface area of the bus bars, and at least one peripheral member securing interconnection of the partial contact surface area of the bus bars with the heating element, for providing customized heating of the heating element depending upon the number of protruding configuration alterations for customized heating to prevent fogging of the eye-shield.

Modular, anti-fog goggle system comprising: lens with an anti-fog heating element and electrical contact, a semi-rigid anterior body comprising an inner peripheral engagement receptacle for receiving the lens within the body, the lens being releasably retained by a removable lens retaining member preferably comprising a tongue releasably interconnected with a groove in the body, the anti-fog element on the lens being releasably connected with a battery preferably retained within the body, the releasable electrical connection being reinforced by the tongue and groove interconnection, a flexible posterior interface being adapted for interposition between the removable lens retaining member and a user's face, and strap means adapted for holding the goggle on the user's head or helmet and reinforcing the interconnection between the removable lens retaining member and the body.

Power saving method providing a burst of power for defogging an eye-shield apparatus with a thin-film heater, comprising: activating the heater from an off power level to an on-demand mode or from a preliminary intermediate power level during an active-on mode to a max power level and continuing heating for a predetermined first period of time, automatically reducing power after the first period of time and sustaining the lesser power for a second predetermined period of time, after which program control automatically turns off the heater, or automatically reduces the heat back to the preliminary intermediate power level depending upon the initial state of the heater upon activating the burst of power, whether on or off. The method may be repeated as often as necessary from off level in the on-demand mode, or from within a continuous active-on mode.

Anti-fog, interchangeable-lens goggle adapted for use with a battery comprising: a body with a flexible posterior portion for engaging a user's face and an anterior portion; a lens having a resistive anti-fog element thereon, the lens adapted for engaging the anterior portion of the body; an engagement mechanism for releasably interconnecting the lens and the body; an interconnection mechanism depending from the body adapted for detachably interconnecting the heating element of the lens and the battery, the interconnection means operable or integral with the engagement mechanism such that interconnecting the heating element of the lens with the battery also reinforces interconnecting of the lens with the semi-rigid anterior portion of the body; and a strap adapted for holding the goggle on a user's head with, or without, a helmet.

A multi-pane, multi-geometry eye-shield adapted to be installed into a frame of an eye-shield, such as a goggle for protecting user's eyes, comprising a spherical anterior outer eye-shield member, a cylindrical posterior inner eye-shield member, an irregular-shaped gasket member between the anterior and posterior eye-shield members forming a water-tight and air-tight semi-annular space therebetween. The posterior cylindrical inner eye-shield member may further be adapted for heating to reduce condensation comprising a thin-film, electrically conductive heating element, such as Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), and electrical contact members to connect the thin-film heating element to a power source.

Multi-pane, multi-geometry goggle eye-shield

A goggle adapted for utilizing a plurality of batteries to perform a powered function for the goggle comprising: a lens retained in a goggle body, strap extension members connected to the goggle body, each extension member defining therein a cavity having a contact for retaining a battery pod, each battery pod having a chemical cell battery therein, for powering the goggle to enable one or more of heating the goggle lens, video capture, GPS, stereo sound or other electronic function of the goggle. The cavities are symmetrical about a z-axis and the batteries for the system are interchangeable such that any battery pod may be flipped about the z-axis and retained in any battery cavity. The goggle is further comprised of a strap portion, either attached to the extension members or integral therewith, for retaining the goggle on a user's head or helmet.

Compensation system adapted for use with a battery-powered, PWM-driven portable electronic device to enable consistent power to the device load despite battery voltage drop resulting from battery depletion, comprising: a voltage divider circuit for proportionally adjusting the voltage to a measurable range; an analog-to-digital converter for receiving the output from the voltage divider and converting it into a digital voltage value; and a microprocessing unit for running software code steps for receiving digital voltage input and user-determined power setting input for determining a compensating duty cycle for application by the software to the PWM to drive the load consistently at the user-determined power setting despite decrease in battery voltage resulting from battery depletion.

Eye shield device adapted for fog prevention for use in a ski goggle, dive mask, medical or testing face shield or the like, while preventing undesirable hot spots on the eye shield, comprising an optically-transparent substrate, a plurality of conductive regions defined on the substrate and connected to a powered circuit of one or more channels. The regions on the substrate are electrically isolated from each other in a first embodiment, and the regions on the substrate are not electrically isolated, or contiguous with adjacent regions on the substrate, in a second embodiment. The regions may be uniformly-sized or of varying sizes and shapes from one region to the next region, and resistivity per square of heating material applied to the regions may be selected based on formulation of the heating material and/or thickness of the heating material.

Multiregion heated eye shield

A system and method for intelligent management of an array of fans. The system uses mean-time-between-failure, fan usage and other data in add ventilation, subtract ventilation and recycle array routines to maximize the life of the fans and the array. The system comprises a primary embodiment making use of smart fans in the array, each smart fan including a fan and appropriate control electronics capable of processing commands received from a smart fan array controller. Fan control signals are multiplexed over a local operating network power line using carrier communication protocols, command messages and data values, all to accomplish a goal of the system to maximize fan life. In an alternate embodiment, fan and array control electronics are integrated onto the fan array controller itself and power is provided to conventional fans using a conventional wiring harness.

Eye-shield condensation prevention system for use in a ski goggle, dive mask, medical or testing face shield or the like, that prevents undesirable hot spots on the eye-shield and maintains constant heat, with the ability to compensate for variations in resistance encountered from one eye-shield region to another, and/or one eye-shield to another, comprising a power source, a pulse-width modulator, a microcomputer, a heating element, and a sensing circuit. The microcomputer uses the sensing circuit to sense voltage and determine a value of resistance of the heating element. The microcomputer then uses this value to adjust the duty cycle of the pulse-width modulator, and may employ a two-dimensional table in assisting calculation. Multiple pulse-width modulators may be employed that correspond to a plurality of eye-shield regions and a corresponding plurality of heating elements.

Eye-shield condensation preventing system comprising an eye shield adapted for protecting a user's eyes and adapted for defining at least a partially enclosed space between the user's eyes and the eye shield, a power source, a pulse-width modulator preferably comprised of a microcomputer, switching means, preferably comprised of a MOSFET device, that is responsive to the pulse-width modulator, a preferably indium-tin-oxide (ITO) heating element on the eye shield, and a circuit interconnecting the power source, the pulse-width modulator, the switching means and the heating element for controlling heating of the eye shield. In one embodiment the eye shield is divided into a plurality of heating regions. A current adjustment means, sensors, and optionally user-selectable profiles are employed to allow heating adjustment or automated anti-fog capability and variable condition adaptability of the invention.
