The invention is a wheeled folding tray cart and method. The wheeled folding tray cart comprises a collapsible wheeled framework pivotally supporting a set of split shelves, each split shelf comprises a pair of half shelves. The wheeled folding tray cart moves between an open operating position wherein the set of split shelves are held in spaced-apart, stacked, horizontal orientation within the collapsible wheeled framework and a closed storage position wherein the collapsible wheeled framework is collapsed in manner to move each half shelf pair into an accordion-like, inverted 'V'-shaped or accordion like configuration. An extension coiled spring attached to the collapsible wheeled framework assists in the movement of the wheeled folding tray cart between open operating position and the closed storage position. A sheath encloses at least a portion of the spring to provide resistance to the spring's movement to limit potential operator exposure to pinch injuries.

A human powered watercraft or land vehicle is described herein. A watercraft or land vehicle may have two pedals that reciprocated are in a linear or slightly curved trajectory but not a circular motion. As the two pedals are reciprocated, an output shaft is rotated in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction when the left pedal is pushed forward or when the right pedal is pushed forward. The output shaft may be connected to a propeller of a watercraft or a land vehicle so as to propel the watercraft or land vehicle forward. The output shaft may receive rotational input through two gears mounted to the output shaft with one-way bearings that enable the output shaft to rotate in the same direction regardless of whether the left pedal or the right pedal is being pushed forward.

To key an identification code of a controlling member to a code reader of a function controller for controlling a function, each controlling member is fitted with a card reader and is configured to adopt the code on the card as the identification code to be attached as the identification portion of any message imparted into a signal line. In similar fashion, each of the function controllers includes a card reader for reading a card bearing a code and the function controller is configured to adopt the code read from the card as being the identification code sought by the function controller as identifying a message as originating from its associated controlling member.

A fan resistor is formed with a resistive pattern of electrically conductive material sandwiched between two panels of thermally conductive material. An insulating barrier on each surface of the resistive pattern electrically insulates it from the thermally conductive panels. The resistive pattern is cut from a sheet of metal using a stamping machine and the cut resistive pattern is dropped on one of the panels, a surface of which has an electrically insulating barrier thereon.

A fuel level detector has a float connected to an arm that rotates a pivot pin. The pivot pin rotates in a hole in the wall of the detector, and the hole is sealed by a sleeve. One end of the sleeve is sealed to the housing of the detector surrounding the hole, and the opposite end of the sleeve is sealed around the outer surface of the pin.

The wiring needed to control all the functions in a vehicle is reduced, especially where the input source for operating a given function is remote from the function. A control member is provided that receives the input signal and converts it to a coded message that is applied to the power line. A function controller includes a coded reader and a control circuit for reading the code applicable to its associated function and controlling the function as instructed from the input signal. The control member also monitors the power line to insure that the message has been properly sent, and the message is repeated until proper transmission is confirmed.

A vehicle headlight has a motor operated adjustable mounting for adjusting the beam of light in a plane. The adjustment device includes an ear on the headlight with an axially extendable arm, the extension of which is driven by an electric motor. Rotation of the motor causes motorized adjustment of the beam. The motor is slideably mounted in a retainer for movement parallel to the extendable arm. A manually adjustable screw adjusts the position of the motor along the slide to permit manual alignment of the headlight beam.

A method of forming one or more ceramic layers on the substrate in which one layer containing ceramic particles is laminated onto the surface of the substrate that is completely formed. The layer that is applied to the substrate contains voids between the ceramic particles. The particles are sintered into a coherent mass, thereby to form the ceramic layer or layers by heating the layer while simultaneously applying pressure to the layer in a direction normal to the surface of the substrate until the sintering is complete. The layer is heated to a temperature that is below the pressureless sintering temperature of the particles and the temperature is sufficient to allow the movement of the particles upon application of the pressure to force the particles into physical contact with one another and such that the voids are substantially removed.

Method of making a ceramic composite

A method of producing a green form for use in manufacturing a composite, ceramic ion transport membrane is provided in which first and second ceramic powder mixtures are used to produce first and second layers of the green form. The first and second ceramic powder mixtures have ceramic particles and a pore former. After formation of each of the first and second layers or after formation of the second layer, heat is applied to burn out the binder and form pores. This heating is completed prior to application of a dense layer to prevent production of defects within the dense layer. The dense layer contains an ion transport material. Defects are also prevented by grading particle size from the first layer to the dense layer. This allows the second intermediate layer to fill in larger pores of the first layer and to present a smooth surface to the dense layer. Additionally, the second ceramic powder mixture contains in part material used in forming the dense layer for thermal expansion compatibility purposes.
