Methods and apparatus for providing conformal shielding are disclosed to provide electromagnetic interference shielding of circuit components mounted on a circuit board. A print mold stencil is provided with one or more conductive shielding walls disposed within the stencil before its application to the circuit board and detachable therefrom, and also configured to encompass the circuit components. In this manner a shielded compartment volume is defined by walls of the print mold stencil and one or more of the conductive shielding walls, and may be easily and quickly applied to the circuit board to encompass the components for shielding. A conformal shielding layer is then formed from a molding material disposed in the shielded compartment volume that encompasses the components, as well as a conductive layer disposed on the outer surface of the material, and coupling of the shielding walls with a ground plane in the circuit board.

Methods and apparatus for conformal shielding

Techniques for managing battery power of a mobile device are described. In an aspect, battery power may be reserved for an application prior to execution of the application on the mobile device. The reservation may ensure that the application has sufficient battery power for execution. In another aspect, battery power may be allocated to applications based on their priorities. The applications may be ordered based on their priorities, and the available battery power for the mobile device may be allocated to one application at a time, starting with the highest priority application. In yet another aspect, battery power may be allocated to applications based on a battery discharge curve for the mobile device. An operating point on the battery discharge curve may be selected based on at least one objective. The available battery power may be determined based on the selected operating point and allocated to the applications.

A method, apparatus, and system are provided for implementing resource and/or location-based matching services between a wireless terminal (e.g., mobile phone) user and one or more resources. A novel infrastructure supports resource and/or location based matching services over a wireless network. A back-end system includes a database, server, and match engine that are configured match a user with one or more resources based on the user's characteristics, preferences, and/or location. Such resources include (1) other users, (2) targeted advertising, (3) businesses/networking opportunities, and/or (4) locate a nearby service or store. A flexible database architecture supports application-specific resources which facilitate the deployment of various matching services. Application developers are thus able to implement different resource-matching applications for wireless devices through a common back-end infrastructure. Additionally, the match engine may include a feedback mechanism that permits the match engine to learn a user's preferences.

Implementations relate to systems and methods for localized notification that provide localized information to one or more mobile devices in a wireless communication system that are located in one or more geographical regions. The wireless communication system includes a localized notification server that responds to geographically-targeted broadcast requests and localized service or information requests. The localized notification server localizes components of the wireless communication system into sets of localized components that provide wireless communication service to mobile devices in the specific geographical regions. In response to a request to broadcast to a target geographical region, the localized notification server identifies a set of localized components associated with the target geographical region. The localized notification server then broadcasts information to mobile devices actively serviced by the set of localized components.

A wireless device provides location data concerning an object by use of geolocation in order to provide distance tracking and local location techniques in order to provide local tracking. The geolocation and local location techniques may be implemented at the same time or individually, reconfigurable on demand, in both the tracking and tracked devices. The tracked wireless device includes a wireless communication circuit capable of communication with a multiuser wireless subscriber network. A geolocation reading circuit provides GPS or similar location data and is capable of obtaining geolocation data concerning the object. A local locating device parses local location data, and an indication is provided of geolocation based on the geolocation data, and is further responsive to the local location data which is used to modify the geolocation data with the local location data.

Here, the base board includes a hole for accommodating the surface mount device, providing a thin device format. In a second configuration, a spacer is mounted onto the first surface of the board, such that a gap is provided between the board and the base board for accommodating the surface mount device, providing a relatively thicker device, but providing additional surface area where the hole otherwise would be, reducing the device size.
