A chopper pump including a drive section having a drive shaft, and a housing coupled to the drive section and having an inlet, an outlet, and an internal cavity arranged between the inlet and the outlet. The chopper pump further includes an impeller received within the internal cavity and coupled to the drive shaft for rotation therewith. The impeller includes a recess formed therein. The chopper pump further includes a cutting insert received within the recess of the impeller. The cutting insert includes a cutting groove axially recessed into the cutting insert. The chopper pump further includes a cutting plate coupled to the housing within the internal cavity. The cutting plate includes a cutting extension that extends radially inward. Rotation of the impeller rotates the cutting blade past the cutting extension.

Cutting assembly for a chopper pump

Embodiments of the invention provide a cutting assembly for a chopper pump. The cutting assembly includes a cutting insert having a cutting blade extending radially therefrom, and an impeller having a central hub, a plurality of vanes, and an insert surface. The insert surface defines an axial recess that is dimensioned to receive the cutting insert therein. The cutting assembly further includes a cutting plate having a plate hub with a cutting extension protruding radially inward therefrom. Rotation of the impeller rotates the cutting blade past the cutting extension.

The invention provides a fluid system with a pump activation device. The fluid system can include a tank containing fluid and a conduit connected to the tank for the distribution of fluid. The fluid system can include a pump apparatus that increases fluid pressure through the fluid system in response to a flow rate of fluid through the fluid system. The pump activation device can include a magnet that generates a magnetic field, causing the pump apparatus to increase the fluid pressure when the pump activation device is moved to an activation position.

An end-wall unit for a submersible motor unit and a submersible motor unit for use in driving a pump including a housing that extends along a longitudinal axis and defines an interior chamber, a stator at least partially enclosed by said housing within a stator chamber, a rotor rotatably supported by a bearing assembly and at least partially enclosed by said stator, and an end-wall assembly that includes an end cap and at least one of a capacitor and a bearing assembly. The at least one of the capacitor and the bearing assembly is supported by the end cap in a position such that the at least one of the capacitor and the bearing assembly is at least partially enclosed by the housing when the end-wall assembly is installed on the motor unit.

Modular end bell construction for a submersible motor unit

A method of supplying water from a well is provided. The method includes the following steps. First, a supply apparatus is provided that includes a container having first and second ends and a first chamber extending to a first opening in the second end. The supply apparatus also has a first fluid conduit with a first branch for use in transporting the water from the first chamber. Next, at least a portion of the second end of the container is submerged within the water in the well such that the first chamber contains a quantity of air. Then, at least a portion of the quantity of air from the first chamber is removed by an air compressor thereby drawing a vacuum within the first chamber. The vacuum in turn draws a quantity of water from the well into the first chamber through the first opening. Next, the removal of air from the first chamber is stopped when the water has obtained a first predetermined level within the first chamber. The first opening is then closed. Compressed air is supplied to the first chamber from the air compressor above the first predetermined level of water thereby forcing at least a portion of the quantity of water out of the first chamber and through the first branch of the first fluid conduit. Finally, the supply of compressed air to the first chamber is stopped when the water has obtained a second predetermined level within the first chamber. In another embodiment the container has two chambers permitting continuous supply of water.

Apparatus and method for moving fluid

A submersible motor unit is used to drive a pump and is submerged with the pump in liquid (water). The motor unit includes a tubular housing member and a tubular inner member which is enclosed by and disposed in a coaxial relationship with the tubular housing member. A stator is disposed in a stator chamber formed between the tubular inner member and the tubular housing member. A rotor is disposed in a rotor chamber disposed within the inner member. End walls close opposite ends of the tubular housing member and the tubular inner member. An annular capacitor is disposed in the stator chamber in an axially spaced apart relationship with the stator. The capacitor extends around the rotor chamber. A body of potting compound is disposed in the stator chamber and at least partially encloses the stator and the capacitor.
