A transgenic plant cell expressing a maltogenic amylase (such as Novamyl&#xae;) or a beta-amylase; a transgenic plant regenerated from said cell; seeds generated from such plant where said seeds comprise a maltogenic amylase or a beta-amylase and the use of said seeds, optionally in ground form, for catalyzing an industrial process, such as e.g. in baking. Methods are described for using the protease compositions in reducing vescosity, cleaning contact lenses, baking, and preparing animal feed.

The present invention relates to variants of a Family 7 cellulase comprising one or more mutations of the amino acid sequence of the cellulase in which each mutation is independently a substitution of an amino acid residue with another amino acid or an insertion of at least one amino acid residues, wherein the variant has a modified H-bonding potential and hydrophobic interaction relative to the cellulase. The present invention relates to detergent compositions comprising an enzyme preparation with substantial cellulytic activity, especially endoglucanase activity, at alkaline conditions which is enzyme composition is derived from or producible by a fungus selected from the Basidiomycetous families Coprinaceae and Bolbitiaceae, preferably from the group of strains belonging to the genera Psathyrella, Podaxis, Panaeolus, Coprinus and Bolbitius, more preferably from the group of strains belonging to the species Coprinus micaceus, Coprinus domesticus, Coprinus ephemerus, Coprinus disseminatus, Coprinus radians, Coprinus picaceus, Coprinus frisei, Coprinus subimpatiens, Psathyrella candolleana, Psathyrella prona, Panaeolus semiovatus, Podaxis pistillaris and Bolbitius aleuriatus; and a method for providing a stone-washed look to textiles, especially to cellulosic fabric such as denim, using the mentioned enzyme preparation; and a method for improving the drainage of paper pulp or the de-inking of recycled paper using the mentioned enzyme preparation; and an enzyme preparation with substantial cellulytic activity at alkaline conditions which is enzyme composition is derived from or producible by a fungus selected from the Basidiomycetous families Coprinaceae and Bolbitiaceae, provided that the fungus does not belong to the species Coprinus cinereus.

The invention is directed to agents used in the retention of color values on fabrics formed from cellulose fibers (color clarification agents) and to a method for treatment of such fabrics. The method comprises treating a colored fabric with a cellulase and a polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyalkylene oxide graft polymer, a polyamino acid polymer, and a carboxylated polysaccharide polymer in an amount effective to preserve the color of the fabric after at least one wash cycle.
