A computer-implemented method for determining whether a video frame is of a 3D TB type (Top-Bottom) or a 3D LR type (Left-Right) frame, characterized in that it comprises the steps of: receiving a video frame (); extracting at least three portions (-) of the frame, each portion belonging to a distinct quarter of the frame () and being positioned at the same fragment of the quarter; calculating color histograms for each portion (-); comparing the color histograms of at least two different pairs of portions; generating a frame type indicator based on the result of comparison of the color histograms.

Method and a system for determining a video frame type

One object of the invention is a display matrix controller configured to drive a display matrix () to display frames of a source video signal, the controller comprising an input interface () configured to provide for each frame to be displayed a frame difference information, specifying changed pixels, whose values change between a frame to be displayed and a currently displayed frame, a brightness equalizer () configured control the display of the frame such as to equalize the level of viewer perception of brightness to a predetermined level for each frame to be displayed depending on the frame difference information, and a matrix driving circuit () configured to receive the frame difference information and to drive the display matrix () to display the frame to be displayed by redrawing only the changed pixels

Display matrix controller and a method for controlling a display matrix

One object of the invention is a digital video signal comprising a sequence of frames, wherein each video frame in the sequence differs with respect to the previous frame in the sequence by a number of pixels which is not higher than a predetermined pixels maximum threshold amount. Another object of the invention is a method for encoding of a digital source video signal, comprising the steps of receiving a reference frame, receiving a source frame of the source video signal, generating an encoded frame based on the differences between the source frame and the reference frame, wherein the generating of the encoded frame comprises the steps of determining a pixels maximum threshold amount, comparing the reference frame with the source frame and selecting a number of pixels from the pixels which differ between the reference frame and the source frame, the number of selected pixels being not higher than the pixels maximum threshold amount, changing the values of the selected pixels of the reference frame to the values of corresponding pixels of the source frame to provide a reference frame for the next source frame and providing an encoded frame defining pixels changed in the reference frame.
