The invention relates to a planning apparatus () for determining an ablation probe parameter. A thermal energy determination unit determines, in a first part of a planning procedure, a first thermal energy distribution by using a thermal energy function like a Bioheat equation such that a temperature-based condition is fulfilled, which is indicative of a desired treatment outcome for a subject (). An ablation probe parameter determination unit determines, in a second part, the ablation probe parameter by using a second thermal energy function, which relates a second thermal energy distribution to be caused by the ablation probe () to b) the ablation probe parameter, such that a deviation between the first thermal energy distribution and the second thermal energy distribution fulfils a predefined deviation criterion. This dissection into two parts allows for an improved adaptability of the determination of the ablation probe parameter to different types of ablation procedures.

Planning apparatus for determining an ablation probe parameter for a single ablation probe or for multiple ablation probes

The invention provides a method for evaluating a set of input data, the input data comprising at least one of: clinical data of a subject; genomic data of a subject; clinical data of a plurality of subjects; and genomic data of a plurality of subjects, using a deep learning algorithm. The method includes obtaining a set of input data, wherein the set of input data comprises raw data arranged into a plurality of data clusters and tuning the deep learning algorithm based on the plurality of data clusters. The deep learning algorithm comprises: an input layer; an output layer; and a plurality of hidden layers. The method further includes performing statistical clustering on the raw data using the deep learning algorithm, thereby generating statistical clusters and obtaining a marker from each statistical cluster. Finally, the set of input data is evaluated based on the markers to derive data of medical relevance in respect of the subject or subjects.

Evaluating input data using a deep learning algorithm

The invention relates to a system for assisting a user in positioning a thermal ablation device () on the basis of a planned ablation position. The invention relates to a therapy planning device for planning a therapy to be applied to tissue of a subject (). A tissue parameter distribution, which has been generated based on a magnetic resonance fingerprint scan of the tissue, and a therapy goal distribution, which defines a distribution of at least one parameter being indicative of a desired effect of the therapy, are provided. A machine learning module (), which has been trained to output at least one therapy application parameter defining the application of the therapy based on an input tissue parameter distribution and an input therapy goal distribution, is used for planning the therapy by determining the at least one therapy application parameter based on the provided tissue parameter distribution and the provided therapy goal distribution. This allows for a consideration of the actual quantitative tissue parameter distribution of the patient, thereby improving planning quality.

Ultrasound imaging system and method for compounding 3D images via stitching based on point distances

A method of clustering or grouping subjects that are similar to one another. A dataset contains, for each subject, a set of quantitative values which each represent a respective clinical or pathological feature of that subject. A principal component analysis, PCA, is performed on the dataset. Loadings of one of the first two principal components identified by the PCA are used to generate a respective dataset of weighting values. These weighting values are used to weigh or modify each set of quantitative values in the dataset. A clustering algorithm is performed on the weighted sets of subject data. The process may be iterated until user-defined stopping conditions are satisfied.

The invention relates to a system and method for tracking at least one anatomic structure by means of an image-registration based tracking procedure using at least one parameter, where the anatomic structure includes a plurality of implanted markers. A parameter setting () unit is configured to determine measured positions of the implanted markers in each image of a series of images acquired using an imaging unit (), and to perform an optimization procedure to determine an optimized value of the at least one parameter on the basis of deviations between the measured and calculated positions. A device () configured to detect the presence of metal artifacts in a patient's eye includes a head mount () configured to receive at least a portion of the patient's head. At least one inductor coil () is disposed on or in the head mount and positioned to inductively couple with at least one eye of the patient's head received into the head mount. An inductance meter () is operably connected to the at least one inductor coil to measure an inductance as a change of frequency of the at least one inductor coil. It is an object of the invention to provide for a system that can be used to improve a cancer related clinical workflow compared to the current cancer related clinical workflow. This object is achieved by an image guided system configured for supporting a combined biopsy and treatment procedure using image guidance to bring a needle from a defined location to a predetermined end location in a subject of interest. A dose planning system includes a biopsy map creation module configured for receiving biopsy information for an organ of interest regarding biopsy locations and tissue characteristics of tissue found at the biopsy locations and creating a spatially annotated biopsy map for the organ, by linking the spatial information on the biopsy locations to the tissue characteristics of tissue found at the corresponding biopsy locations. A probability map calculation module is configured for creating a tumor probability map by calculating a tumor probability for locations in the organ from which no biopsy was taken by using the tumor and/or tissue characteristics from the biopsy locations and a dose planning module configured for creating a dose plan based on the tumor probability map. The planning constraints are such that on average a higher tumor probability results in a higher planned dose and a lower tumor probability results in a lower planned dose.
