An indexable insert for solid drills has four identical cutting edges () arranged at a distance above a supporting base () and each extending between two cutting-edge corners ('). The cutting edges are each bounded by a cutting face () and a clearance face (), with the inclusion of a wedge angle (b). Of the cutting edges (), one in each case is in an active operating position during the drilling operation. To permit optimum adaptation to the cutting conditions and drilling characteristics, varying over the length of the cutting edge of the drilling tool, it is proposed according to the invention that the height (h) of the four cutting edges (), measured from the plane of the supporting base (), and/or the clearance angle (a) varies over the length of the respective cutting edges ().

Indexable insert and use of the indexable insert in a solid drill

A junction between two components of a tool system, that rotates about an axis of rotation, includes a conical seat, on the first component, coaxial to the axis of rotation and which is defined by an annular front face. The second component carries a coupling having a conical surface complementary to the conical seat and an annular end face resting against the front face. A tie bolt axially projects beyond the free end of the coupling pin and engages, in a cavity adjacent to the seat. The junction also has tensioning elements that are actuated from the exterior for mutually bracing the components, which are radially guided in the first component, and which act upon the tie bolt and are functionally linked with joint actuating means for adjustment between detached and tensioned positions. The tensioning elements include ejection portions that can be fitted with a rotatably received rolling element.

Junction between two components of a rotating tool system

The invention relates to a machine tool, particularly a machine reamer, comprising a shaft-type base and a replaceable cutter head which frontally protrudes from the base. An axially protruding extension of said cutter head engages into a frontal receptacle that is fixed to the base, the cutter head being removably clamped in said receptacle by means of a clamping screw which penetrates the replaceable cutter head in a truly axial direction. The screw head of the clamping screw rests against a face of the replaceable cutter head. The extension of the replaceable cutter head is provided with a polygonal part which is complementary to a truly axial polygonal hole that is fixed to the base and is penetrated by the polygonal part. The extension is further provided with an externally conical part which adjoins the polygonal part, engages into a conical hole that is fixed to the base, and is complementary to said conical hole while the clamping screw is screwed into a central internal thread that is fixed to the base. Preferably, the base is equipped with a functional insert which is rigidly connected to the base and contains the internal thread, the polygonal hole, and/or the conical hole.

Machine tool

A solid drill bit for machine tools has a drill bit body and two indexable inserts arranged at a radial distance from one another in respective insert seats. The inserts have an essentially quadratic contour. Their front-end main cutting edges project axially beyond the drill bit body and radially overlap one another. The outer insert has an outer insert corner and a secondary cutting edge perpendicular to the main cutting edge that projects radially beyond the circumference of the drill bit body. To permit burr-free through-drilling, the main cutting edge of the outer insert is subdivided in its longitudinal extent into a radially inner working section and a rectilinear peeling section adjoining the working section and extending to the outer insert corner. The sections enclose a setting angle of 95&#xb0; to 120&#xb0;. The peeling section is set at a positive setting angle of 72&#xb0; to 87&#xb0;.

Solid drill bit for machine tools

The invention relates to a dual-cutting drilling tool. The drilling tool comprises a base body () which is rotatable about a drill axis () and in which two plate seats () are arranged on the front face thereof for receiving identically configured alternating cutting plates (). The alternative cutting plates are respectively provided on a main cutting edge () thereof with an adjacent first face (), forming a cutting wedge, and a free surface (). The main cutting edges () of the alternating cutting plates () complement each other in the region of a central, offset cutting part ('), forming a cross-cutting edge which is interrupted by a center hole (). The aim of the Invention is to reduce the risk of breakage in the center area of the alternating cutting plates and to provide better guidance for the tool. According to the invention, slanting guiding inclinations () are provided on the free surface of the alternating cutting places (), extending from an apex line () to the center corner () of the plates. The free surfaces () are positively inclined in a radially outer region in the direction of advancement and are negatively inclined in the region of the guiding inclinations () thereof.

A machine reamer has a base and a reamer head configured as a one-piece indexable insert that axially projects beyond the front of the base. The indexable insert can be introduced in a front insert seat of the base with an axially projecting, preferably conical shoulder and can be clamped therein by a tension rod that extends through the center-axis of the base. In order to improve the rotational catch effect between the base and the indexable insert, the indexable insert has a central polygonal opening through which the tension rod engages with a complementary polygonal section.

A solid drill bit for machine tools. has a bit body and two movable inserts located a radial distance apart in insert seats of the bit body. The inserts have a rectangular or quadratic contour, project axially over the bit body with their major cutting edges and overlap in their working area. The outer movable insert projects radially beyond the periphery of the bit body with its outer cutting edge corner and with the adjoining minor cutting edge. Starting from the cutting edge corner, the minor cutting edge is inclined in the direction of the bit body at a setting angle of less than 3.2 &#xb0;. The minor cutting edge has a guiding edge that is slidingly supported against the wall of the bore over at least part of its length due to a radially outwardly oriented thrust force.

A double or multiple-edged drilling tool has a base body rotatable about a drilling axis, and at least two plate seats arranged on the front face for accommodating identical interchangeable cutting plates. The cutting plates each have a machining face, and a clearance face adjoining a principal cutting edge forming a cutting wedge, and a seat face facing away from the clearance face. A guiding land adjoins radially outwardly through each edge the machining face, the clearance face and optically the seat face. The cutting plates each have a hole for a retaining screw which is screwed into a threaded bore at the front face of the base body. The holes are aligned with their axis perpendicular to the clearance face of the associated cutting plates the threaded bores are aligned inclined to the drilling axis and inclined to each other in the base body.

Drilling tool

The invention relates to a drilling tool for machine tools and to a method for the production thereof. The drilling tool has at least one chip conveyor groove ( ) and at least one functional channel ( ). In order to produce the body of the drill ( ), the wall of a tubular metal blank is simultaneously impinged upon by substantially radially oscillating form-giving forces in several forming sections spread over the periphery, moving in an axial direction along the surface of the blank, whereby at least one chip conveyor groove ( ) is shaped and at least one functional channel ( ) is formed. When the chip conveyor grooves ( ) are formed on at least two interspaced forming sections in a peripheral direction in the wall of the blank ( ), the parts of the wall in the area of two opposite-lying chip conveyor grooves ( ) come to rest against each other in a sealed manner, defining at least two functional channels ( ) on the inner surfaces thereof. The joint ( ) thus formed can be closed by means of cold welding or soldering.

Drilling tool for machine tools and method for the production thereof

A cutting insert shapes metallic workpieces by chipping. The cutting insert is especially suited for use in solid drills or double-bit cutters. It has at least one cutting edge which is delimited by a chipping face and a flank extends between two cutting corners. The cutting edge includes two sections which form an obtuse angle and in the area of a roof-shaped tip merge into each other. The chipping face has a raised shaped chipping element which extends from the inside of the chipping face as far as the cutting edge, from where it reaches beyond the roof-shaped tip partially across the two sections of the cutting edge. The cutting edge sections and the adjoining chipping faces include a step delimiting the shaped chipping element, the edges of which step serve as additional cutting edges of the shaped chipping element.
