Plain bearing providing an outer ring with an inner surface, an inner ring with an outer surface, the rings being symmetrical around an axis and metallic, at least on the rings being a textured ring with a texturation consisting of a plurality of micro-cavities arranged onto a textured surface. A composite self-lubricating composite liner that is interposed between the inner surface of the outer ring and the outer surface of the inner ring, so that upon sliding movement of the textured ring with respect to the composite liner, some solid particles of the liner, acting as a solid lubricant, are detached from the composite liner and migrate between the sliding surfaces until they get retained into the micro-cavities.

Plain bearing with improved resistance to wear

Bearing component providing unaffected material that has a surface, which has been subjected to a hard machining process during where the temperature of the surface did not exceed the austenitizing temperature of the unaffected material. The surface of the bearing component includes a white layer formed during the hard machining process. The white layer has a nano-crystalline microstructure that includes grains having a maximum grain size up to 500 nm. The white layer is located directly adjacent to the unaffected material of the bearing component, where no dark layer is formed during the hard machining process.

Bearing component and method

The present invention relates to a method for performing in-process compensating a machining operation on a workpiece, wherein the compensation process includes generating a control signal representative of magnitude of a contact force exerted on a cutting tool in a normal direction in relation to a machining surface of the workpiece, determining a compensation parameter value based on the control signal, and compensating the machining operation based on the compensation parameter value. The present invention also relates to corresponding machine arrangement for performing a machining operation on a workpiece, such as a hard turning process.

In-process compensation of machining operation and machine arrangement

A method and device for effecting automatic centering of an annular workpiece on a rotating surface having a rotational center involves arbitrarily positioning the workpiece on the slowly rotating surface, applying a support for the workpiece by way of spaced apart contact members that individually contact the workpiece and are synchronously movable in a guided reciprocating manner towards and away from the rotational center of the rotating surface. The contact members are gradually retracted away from the rotational center of the rotating surface until the workpiece is unaffected by the contact members during one revolution of the rotating surface so that the workpiece is centered, and the center of the workpiece coincides with the rotational center of the rotating surface. At least one of the contact members is provided with a mechanism for counteracting a friction force acting on the workpiece.

Method and a device for effecting automatic centering of an annular workpiece on a rotating surface

Method for manufacturing improved contact surfaces, particularly contact surfaces in rolling bearing components such as rings or rolling bodies, is disclosed. The method subjects a surface of the rolling bearing component to a hard turning machining operation for forming by means of a hard turning tool a rolling or sliding contact surface. The hard turned surface is subjected to a finishing operation to remove the basic turning groove structure in a light machining way such that micro-pockets created in the hard turning operation remain. The hard turning tool during the hard turning machining operation is subjected to a vibration, substantially in the longitudinal direction of the tool, thereby creating in a controlled manner in the hard-turned surface a number of indentations, which are substantially arc-shaped in cross-sectional direction, prior to the finishing operation. Indentations improve lift-off and lubricating properties during later operation of the rolling bearing.

Method for manufacturing rolling contact surfaces

A method for cuffing or hard turning the surface of a workpiece comprising using a cutting tool in which a cooling fluid is supplied to the cutting area by means of at least one jet nozzle. The cooling fluid is supplied as a jet with high pressure leaving the jet nozzle with a pressure above 60 bar.
