Nonwoven materials having at least one layer comprising cellulose fibers, synthetic fibers, or combinations thereof are provided. Such nonwoven materials are at least partially covered on their surface with a binder including carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and a metallic salt, the binder having a pH of from about 4.3 to about 4.5. Nonwoven materials including such binder provide for increased wet strength and dispersibility and are suitable for use in a variety of applications, including wipes.

Nonwoven materials having at least one layer comprising high core bicomponent fibers are provided. The nonwoven materials can have multiple layers and are suitable for use in a variety of applications, including in absorbent products. The nonwoven materials can have improved resiliency and strength and can retain their structure under wetted conditions and after tension and compression.

Nonwoven material with high core bicomponent fibers

Nonwoven materials having at least one layer comprising high core bicomponent fibers are provided. The nonwoven materials can have multiple layers and are suitable for use in a variety of applications, including in absorbent products. Such nonwoven materials can be patterned to create a three-dimensional topography including indentations formed of valleys and ridges. The nonwoven materials can have improved resiliency and strength and can retain their structure under wetted conditions and after tension and compression. The nonwoven materials can further facilitate the transfer of the liquid through the nonwoven material for improved liquid distribution and can also have improved liquid retention properties.

The presently disclosed subject matter relates to nonwoven materials and their use in cleaning articles. More particularly, the nonwovens are layered structures including a rough outer surface which are useful for scrubbing and cleaning purposes.

A dispersible, nonwoven multistrata wipe material is provided that is stable in a wetting liquid and flushable in use. More particularly, multilayered structures including, but not limited to, two, three, or four layers are provided to form the dispersible nonwoven wipe material. The presently disclosed subject matter relates to a multilayer nonwoven material. More particularly, the presently disclosed subject matter relates to multilayered structures including, but not limited to, two, three, or four layers to form the nonwoven material. The multilayered structure can include a first layer comprising continuous filaments and a second layer comprising bonded fibers. The continuous filaments can be synthetic filaments. The fibers can be cellulosic fibers, noncellulosic fibers, or combinations thereof. Certain layers can also contain a binder material.

The present invention is directed to an absorbent material and the fibers therein, having two or more layers including an upper surface layer which has on the outer surface of the layer one or more surface area zones which are more wettable zones and adjacent thereto one or more less wettable zones, where the more wettable zones have a greater hydrophilicity than the less wettable zone. The present invention is also directed to the fibers therein, which contain polyvalent cation-containing compounds and fatty acid containing compounds. The present invention also provides for methods of treating fibers or solid materials and processes of producing the hydrophobic materials.

Absorbent structures that form superabsorbent polymers in situ. The structures include an absorbent material and a fibrous material containing an activating agent. The fibrous material releases the activating agent upon stimulation with an activator, which causes the polymer to become a superabsorbent polymer. The absorbent component is desirably a water-swellable, water-insoluble polymer. The absorbent structures form a superabsorbent composition in situ. Methods of making the activating agent containing fibrous material are provided.
