A portable information handling system is assembled and disassembled by a keystone assembly that couples at an upper surface of the portable housing to overlap a keyboard assembly that covers processing components disposed in the portable housing. A motherboard couples to the portable housing with a bi-stable plate having first and second portions selectively held in an engaged position and a released position by plural flexible members that flex between a first position stable one side of orthogonal to an inner portion relative to an outer portion and a second position stable on an opposite side of orthogonal. A member extending from the bi-stable plate moves relative to the motherboard to engage a notch that can be aligned with an axis of the sliding, orthogonal to the axis of the sliding or plural notches in both positions.

Lifecycle information of one component is stored on other components when relevant to the lifecycle of the other components, such as detection of liquid at a keyboard membrane, which is stored locally in a motherboard lifecycle non-transitory memory.

A battery charge agent stored in non-transitory memory and executing on an information handling system processing resource, such as a system charger, sets a minimum battery charge state based on energy parameters that include a carbon footprint for an external power source so that the battery discharges when external power carbon footprint is relatively high and charges when external power carbon footprint is relatively low. The minimum battery charge state is varied based upon anticipated battery use, anticipated location, anticipated power source carbon footprint characteristics and other factors.

A member extending from a housing cover coupled to the housing engages the battery to hold the battery in position in the housing.

A portable information handling system speaker mount has standardized contacts and mounting points to accept plural speaker types with different speaker characteristics to generate audible sounds driven by an audio subsystem with audio driver settings, such as speaker-type gains. When a speaker is inserted, the audio subsystem communicates a coil characterization signal to the speaker and then analyzes the coil response to identify the type of the speaker, such as by determining the resistance of the coil to a direct current signal or the impedance of the coil from a frequency-based signal. In one example embodiment, the coil characterization signal generates audible noise from the speaker that is detected by a microphone and analyzed to determine the speaker type identity.

A Hall sensor proximate the ferromagnetic material detects the speaker magnet in the closed position and communicates open or closed position detection through a flexible cable and hinge to an embedded controller in the main housing for execution of logic associated with open and closed positions, such as ACPI sleep and wake states.

A colorimeter located proximate the magnet detects colors presented at the display at a position where the peripheral camera couples to the display. The algorithm has a more rapid response by predicting the camera position, such as near a videoconference window. Incremental changes to colors presented at the display so that the presented colors do not match colors of content of an end user yet are indistinguishable to the human eye aid in providing a definitive peripheral camera location.

A cooling fan couples to the motherboard adjacent to one side to retain the motherboard in the engaged position and is removed to allow the motherboard to slide to the released position. Plural cooling fans interface in series with the motherboard to provide additional cooling capacity.

A peripheral device having one or more input devices tracks total inputs at the input devices locally and reports the total inputs to an information handling system to track health of the peripheral for reuse. Input device actuations and/or values are queued in batches of sufficient size so that communication to non-transitory memory and to the information handling system hides the values of the inputs made by an end user. The peripheral devices can include peripheral keyboards that track key inputs, peripheral mouse devices that track button presses and peripheral stylus devices that track battery charges, button presses and writing tip use.

The keyboard assembly includes a housing cover having guide structures with stops disposed on opposing sides and aligned to engage with rails of the housing to slide to a cover position over the housing defined by the position of the stops. The scalar board couples display cable ports to accept display information from an information handling system and extends the display cable ports out of openings of the midplane.
