Examples relate to a method for performing multi-carrier phase-based ranging between two radios including: i) calculating squared channel responses based on channel measurements between the two radios for a plurality of available carriers within a measurement band for the phase-based ranging, where the measurement band has at least one band gap each with one or more unusable carriers for calculating squared channel responses, ii) estimating, via a trained neural network, squared channel responses for the unusable carriers in a respective band gap from squared channel responses of carriers adjacent to the respective band gap, and iii) estimating a distance between the two radios based on both the calculated and estimated squared channel responses.

Multi-carrier phase difference distance estimation

Example embodiments relate to methods for estimating a location of at least one mobile network node and respective network. An example method for estimating a location of at least one mobile network node of a wireless communication network including the at least one mobile network node and at least two static network nodes includes performing initial range measurements between the at least two static network nodes in a pairwise manner. The method also includes determining an initial location estimate. Additionally, the method includes determining an estimate for corresponding noise samples. Further, the method includes estimating corresponding initial parameters of a Gaussian mixture noise model. In addition, the method includes determining a weighted sum of respective refined parameters of the Gaussian mixture noise model and the corresponding initial parameters of the Gaussian mixture noise model.

Method for estimating a location of at least one mobile network node and respective network

A method of ranging between a first and a second radio signal transceiver comprises calculating a preliminary estimate of a value proportional to a one-way frequency domain channel response, for a frequency of a plurality of frequencies and for each of a first antenna combination and a second antenna combination of a plurality of antenna combinations; calculating a comparison value for the preliminary estimate, for the frequency and for each of the first antenna combination and the second antenna combination; determining, for the frequency and the first antenna combination, a corrected estimate of the value proportional to the one-way frequency domain channel response based on the preliminary estimate and the comparison value, for the first antenna combination and the second antenna combination; and performing a ranging calculation between the first and the second radio signal transceiver based on a plurality of such corrected estimates.

Ranging method

A method of wireless ranging between an initiator node and a responder node, involves performing a measurement procedure resulting in a two-way phase measurement between an initiator node and a responder node, the measurement procedure involving the initiator node transmitting an initiator carrier signal; the responder node performing a phase measurement of the initiator carrier signal relative to a responder node clock reference; the responder node transmitting a responder carrier signal; and the initiator node performing a phase measurement of the responder carrier signal relative to the initiator node clock reference, the method further involving calculating a distance between the initiator node and the responder node using as input the two-way phase measurements for the plurality of nominal frequencies; and a clock reference offset correction of the initiator node and of the responder node.

Method of wireless ranging

A measuring system includes a first measuring device and a second measuring device. The measuring system is configured to, between the first measuring device and the second measuring device, determine a first phase shift at a first frequency, determine a second phase shift at a second frequency, and determine a third phase shift at a third frequency. The first measuring device includes a phase difference calculator configured to calculate a first phase difference between the first phase shift and the second phase shift, and a second phase difference between the second phase shift and the third phase shift. The first measuring device also includes a range/velocity calculator configured to determine a first biased distance estimate from the first phase difference, a second biased distance estimate from the second phase difference, and an unbiased distance and/or velocity from the first biased distance estimate and the second biased distance estimate.

System and method for distance and velocity estimation in phase-based ranging

A method is disclosed for group ranging in a wireless network. The wireless network comprises a plurality of nodes, including an initiator node and a plurality of responder nodes. The method includes performing, for each frequency in a plurality of frequencies, a measurement procedure involving a two-way phase measurement between the initiator node and each of the responder nodes. The measurement procedure includes the initiator node transmitting a carrier signal having the frequency, each responder node of the plurality of responder nodes receiving and performing a phase measurement of the carrier signal, each responder node of the plurality of responder nodes transmitting a carrier signal having the frequency, and the initiator node receiving and performing a phase measurement of the carrier signal. The method further includes calculating, between the initiator node and each responder node of the plurality of responder nodes, a distance, based on the performed two-way phase measurements.

Phase-based group ranging

A method for determining a distance between a first radio signal transceiver and a second radio signal transceiver using narrowband ranging comprises calculating a preliminary estimate of a value proportional to a one-way frequency domain channel response, based on measurements of signal phase and signal strength; calculating, for pairs of adjacent frequencies, an estimate of a value proportional to a time synchronization offset between a clock used by the first radio signal transceiver and a clock used by the second radio signal transceiver, and determining a final estimate of a value proportional to the one-way frequency domain channel response based on the preliminary estimate and adjacent estimates for the value proportional to the time synchronization offset, where the final estimate is used for the final distance determination.

Method for distance determination

A method for ramping a switched capacitor power amplifier is disclosed, where the switched capacitor power amplifier comprises a plurality of capacitors in a capacitor bank, and where a number of the capacitors in the capacitor bank are activated. The method comprises changing the number of capacitors in the capacitor bank that are activated, maintaining the changed number of activated capacitors in the capacitor bank for a period of time, and repeating the changing and maintaining, where a length of the period of time is varied between at least two repetitions of the maintaining.
