Wirelessly distributed and multi-directional power transfer systems and related methods are described herein. An example system for distributing power across a wireless medium can include a plurality of wireless modular power packs connected across a wireless medium to a wireless power receiver circuit that is connected to a load. Each wireless modular power pack can include a respective wireless power transmission circuit directing a respective wireless power signal to the wireless power receiver circuit. The system can also include a power source positioned within each of the wireless modular power packs. Each power source transmits a respective power signal across an internal power interface to a respective wireless power transmission circuit within a respective wireless modular power pack.

Wirelessly distributed and multi-directional power transfer systems and related methods

The exemplified systems and methods provide fixed and exchangeable energy storage and delivery system in an electrified vehicle architecture with multi-mode controls. The exchangeable energy storage are configured to be optional and ultra-portable. The integration of fixed and exchangeable energy storage provides a vehicle configuration that is further optimized for size, weight, and convenience.

An example device for simultaneous transfer of alternating current (AC) and directed current (DC) power includes a power converter or inverter circuit having a switch, a power magnetic device comprising a coupled winding, a DC power output loop for delivering DC power to a DC load, and an AC power output loop for delivering AC power to an AC load. The DC power can be a function of a direct current (DC) component of a current of the power inductor, and the AC power can be a function of an induced and/or switching alternating current (AC) ripple component of the current of the power inductor. In addition, the device can include a controller operably coupled to the power converter or inverter circuit. The controller can include a processing unit and a memory and can be configured to independently regulate the DC power and the AC power.

Systems, methods, and devices for simultaneous conversion and inversion of electrical power

Methods, apparatuses, and systems for measuring impedance spectrum, power or energy density, and/or spectral density using frequency component analysis of power converter voltage and current ripple are described herein. An example method for measuring impedance spectrum, power spectrum, or spectral density can include measuring an alternating current (AC) ripple associated with a power converter, where the AC ripple includes an AC current ripple and an AC voltage ripple. The method can also include performing a frequency analysis to obtain respective frequency components of the AC current ripple and the AC voltage ripple, and calculating an impedance spectrum, a power spectrum, or a spectral density of an electrical component based on the respective frequency components of the AC current ripple and the AC voltage ripple.

Systems, devices, controllers, and methods for simultaneous transfer of wireless and wired power are described herein. An example device can include a power converter or inverter circuit having a switch, a power inductor, a wired power output loop for delivering wired power to a wired load, and a wireless power output loop for delivering wireless power to a wireless load. Systems, methods, and devices for simultaneous wireless and wired power transfer

Systems and methods for transmitting, receiving, and controlling wireless power are disclosed. The systems include one or more transmitters, one or more receivers, one or more sensors, one or more surrounding mapping devices, one or more controllers and control methods, and/or one or several arrangements. In one embodiment, a system and controller automatically adjusts the wireless power amount/level and/or type/source based on the mapped surroundings in order maintain safety, maintain health, optimize efficiency, and/or improve wireless energy transmission and receiving. In another embodiment, a system and controller controls and adjust several types and forms wireless energy transmission and receiving such as radiative electromagnetic energy, non-radiative electromagnetic energy, sound waves energy, ultrasound energy, light energy, radio frequency energy, and/or inductively coupled energy. In another embodiment, the system parts such as transmitters and wireless energy/power receiving derives communicate information such as the type and amount of wireless energy being transmitted and received.

Methods and systems for arrangement and control of wireless power transfer and receiving

A method of controlling the stability of a power converter in a closed-loop control system. The method includes inputting a variable to be controlled such as an output voltage of the power converter to a compensator or mathematical function for processing; determining, using the compensator, an error signal representative of a difference between the output voltage and a reference voltage; evaluating an energy content in a short-time Fourier transform spectrogram of the error signal from the compensator and/or evaluating the sinusoidality shape of the error signal; updating a transfer function of the compensator and other system parameters in accordance with the energy content or sinusoidality.

Systems and methods for transmitting and receiving wireless power are disclosed. A transmitter may include one or more magnetic inductive coil(s) configured to transmit power, a plurality of drive loops, one or more switches connected to the plurality of drive loops, and a controller configured to connect or disconnect the drive loops using the one or more switches. A receiver may include one or more magnetic inductive coil(s) configured to receive power, a plurality of load loops, one or more switches connected to the plurality of load loops, and a controller configured to connect or disconnect the load loops using the one or more switches. The wireless power system may include inductive coils and RF antennas that are adaptively controlled and configured. A transmitter and/or a receiver may adaptively rotate, adjust orientation and/or location.

Wireless power transfer systems and methods

Systems and methods for efficiently controlling energy sources are disclosed. In one example, a system for processing and storing energy may include a plurality of cells that store energy and a plurality of power switches coupled to the cells. The system may also include an inductor coupled to the power switches and a controller, wherein the controller controls the power switches to transfer the energy to a load.

Multi-input or multi-output energy system architectures and control methods

An inductor has a substrate and at least one coil of carbon nanotubes. A trench is formed in the substrate, and the carbon nanotubes are grown in the trench in order to form a coil for the inductor. In some embodiments, multiple coils may be formed in the trench as may be desired.

Carbon nanotube-based integrated power inductor for on-chip switching power converters

A substrate having trenches containing carbon nanotubes has elements to provide a power converter. One set of trenches is configured to form an inductor and another set is configured to form a capacitor. Trenches in the substrate are also configured to receive semiconductor material and carbon nanotubes to form a power field effect transistor. All the elements are coupled together using carbon nanotubes placed in connection trenches of the substrate.

Carbon nanotube-based integrated power converters

A photovoltaic (PV) system has a plurality of PV panels that convert solar energy into electrical energy. Each PV panel is coupled to a respective switching power converter. A parameter (e.g., voltage or current) of a combined current signal from each of the switching power converters is sensed, and a controller controls the duty cycle of each switching power converter in order to maximize the sensed parameter. In this regard, the controller adjusts the duty cycles of the power switching converters in groups while the duty cycles of other power switching converters are held constant in order to set the duty cycles for maximum power transfer, thereby accounting for variations in the power output by each PV panel.

Systems and methods for controlling power switching converters for photovoltaic panels

A battery pack having a plurality of battery pack modules, wherein each battery pack module includes a battery cell and a power converter. The power converters of the plurality of battery pack modules are connected in series to form a string of N battery pack modules such that the voltage across the N battery pack modules defines the output voltage of the battery pack. A controller regulates the output voltage of each battery cell or module power converter and the output voltage of the battery pack by independently controlling each battery cell module in accordance with variables such as state-of-charge (SOC), state-of-health (SOH) and temperature, capacity, and temperature of each individual battery cell module. The power converter may be used to measure impedance of the battery pack by adding a sinusoidal perturbation signal to a reference voltage of the cell battery pack module.
