The invention relates to a transcranial magnetic stimulation device comprising: at least two coils, an input channel for each coil, a control unit, and at least one energy storage for storing energy for the at least two coils, the control unit being configured to: determine at least one stimulus intensity; determine an energy level stored in the at least one energy storage; determine a modulation pattern for each coil; and generate at least one control signal for controlling the input channel of the at least one coil of the at least two coils according to the determined modulation pattern in order to control an input of each coil from the at least one energy storage. A method is also disclosed.

Control of transcranial magnetic stimulation

Provided herein is a multichannel Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (mTMS) coil device with two or more overlapping coil windings within a casing. The mTMS coil device is capable of adjusting parameters of the stimulation of magnetic and induced electric fields through the selective control of the multiple coil windings within the mTMS coil device. Additionally, provided are methods of operation including navigated TMS for adjusting parameters such as location, direction and/or orientation of magnetic and induced electric fields from mTMS coil devices.

The invention relates to a prepolarizing magnetic resonance- or relaxation-based measurement system, comprising a prepolarizing coil for producing a prepolarizing field at the target zone, means for pulsing the prepolarizing field according to a first pulsing scheme, and means for measuring magnetization of a target placed in the target zone. According to the invention, the system further comprises a shielding coil for producing a shielding field and means for pulsing the shielding field according to a second pulsing scheme, whereby the shielding coil and the second pulsing scheme are arranged to reduce the formation of unwanted transient fields caused by the coupling of the prepolarizing coil to conducting or magnetic structures in the surroundings of the system. The invention also relates to a corresponding method of measurement and a process of designing the pulsing schemes for the system or process. By means of the invention, the formation of unwanted eddy currents, for example, in the surroundings of the measurement system, can be reduced.
