A safety gear system for an elevator has a main static mass, an auxiliary static mass and a dynamically changing mass, wherein the dynamically changing mass changes in accordance with the travel of the main static mass. The safety gear system includes at least one first safety gear which is configured to brake the auxiliary static mass by a constant braking force, and at least one second safety gear which is configured to brake the main static mass and the dynamically changing mass by an adjustable brake force which is adjustable in accordance with the change of the dynamically changing mass.

An elevator has an elevator car and a counterweight suspended by hoisting ropes, which hoisting ropes are driven by a drive machine via a traction sheave, which elevator further includes a compensation rope in the lower shaft area between the car and the counterweight, which compensation rope runs around a compensation sheave arrangement in the shaft bottom, which elevator has a compensation device for the compensation of rope elongation. The compensation device includes a diverting pulley for the compensation rope connected to the counterweight, whereby the compensation rope is arranged to run over the diverting pulley, a tension weight connected with the free end of the compensation rope, a rope clamp arranged on the compensation rope and a clamp support for connecting the rope clamp to the counterweight. A compensation device is provided for the rope elongation which necessitates less vertical space in the elevator shaft.

Elevator

An elevator has a car, arranged to be moved along at least one guide rail in an elevator guide way, the car having a brake for braking the car movement by gripping the guide rail, the brake having a gripping device configured to grip the guide rail and exert a friction force thereon, and an adjusting device configured to adjust the gripping device with respect to its friction force exerted on the guide rails in case of braking. The adjusting device is configured to adjust the gripping device depending on the car position in the elevator guide way. With the above construction, emergency braking is allowed, particularly in higher and high rise elevators with a stopping distance which is mostly unaffected by the position of the elevator car in the guide way.

An elevator includes a car, a counterweight, a rotatable drive member, and one or more suspension ropes interconnecting the car and the counterweight and passing over the rotatable drive member. Each of the suspension rope(s) has a first rope section on the first side of the drive member and a second rope section on the second side of the drive member, the first section(s) of the rope(s) being connected to the car to suspend the car. The second section(s) of the rope(s) are connected to the counterweight to suspend the counterweight. Drive machinery controls rotation of the drive member. The elevator includes a rope tension sensor mounted on the counterweight and arranged to sense tension of the second section(s) of the rope(s). The rope(s) include(s) electrically conducting member(s) extending continuously along the length of the rope(s) forming an electrically conducting connection between the car and counterweight. The rope tension sensor is functionally connected with the drive machinery via said electrically conducting connection between the car and counterweight such that reduced rope tension of the second rope section(s) sensed by the rope tension sensor triggers the drive machinery to brake rotation of the drive member and/or to stop rotating the drive member.

An elevator includes at least one elevator car driving in an elevator shaft driven by an elevator drive. The elevator car has at least one car door and a door sill at the bottom of the car door, which door sill includes at least one groove, in which the car door is guided, in which groove at least one trash hole is located to prevent trash from accumulating in the groove, whereby the elevator car further includes a toe guard which extends downwards from the door sill. The trash hole is connected with a first upper end of an air channel extending downwards from the door sill and includes at least one channel portion extending with a direction component in a horizontal direction and/or having an opening directed sideward, which air channel is connected with the toe guard. The elevator leads to a reduced noise generation in the region of the door sill, particularly in elevator cars traveling with a high speed.

An elevator, which includes a hoistway; and an elevator car vertically movable in the hoistway; and a counterweight vertically movable in the hoistway; and a number of upper rope wheels (in particular one or more) mounted higher than the car and counterweight, and a number of first ropes interconnecting the elevator car and counterweight, each of the more ropes passing around the one or more upper rope wheels; and a number of lower rope wheels mounted lower than the car and counterweight; and second ropes interconnecting the elevator car and counterweight, each passing around one or more of the lower rope wheels. The lower rope wheels include one or more first lower rope wheels; and one or more second lower rope wheels above the one or more first rope wheels. The second ropes include a first set of ropes forming a first U-shaped loop of ropes hanging from the car and counterweight and passing around the one or more first lower rope wheels; and a second set of ropes forming a second U-shaped loop of ropes hanging from the car and counterweight inside the first loop of ropes and passing around the one or more second lower rope wheels.

The invention relates to an elevator having a car and guide rails along which the car is guided along a hoistway between landings of the elevator, the car comprising: a frame, upper and lower guide elements, which are mounted to said frame at a vertical distance from each other, and exactly one elevator cabin with a cabin floor, in which elevator the cabin is&#x2014;in travel direction of the car&#x2014;movably connected to the frame between an uppermost and a lowermost position. By this means a high travel comfort can be obtained with economic space usage at the top and bottom of the hoistway.

Extended roller guides

An elevator arrangement includes first and second movable elevator units, the first unit being an elevator car and the second unit being a counterweight, and a roping system including a first roping portion suspending the first and second elevator units, and being locked at least to the second elevator unit, a second roping portion being suspended by the first elevator unit and the second elevator unit, and being locked at least to the second elevator unit. The first and the second roping portions are successive portions of a roping passing unbroken via a locking arrangement provided at the second elevator unit, the locking arrangement locking the roping to the second elevator unit between the first and the second portions. In a method in constructing an elevator, the locking arrangement is unlocked and thereafter the roping is repositioned with respect to the locking arrangement and thereafter the locking arrangement is relocked.

Elevator arrangement and a method

An elevator includes at least one elevator car driving along an elevator shaft as well as an elevator control measuring the car position. The elevator further includes a buffer in the shaft pit, whose length is adjustable in response to the car position and car speed. Via this measure, the shaft pit can be reduced in high speed elevator requiring large buffer lengths.

A compensation device of a traction sheave elevator is provided. The elevator includes a compensation rope running from an elevator car to a compensation sheave of the compensation device located in the lowermost part of the elevator shaft around which the compensation rope runs. The compensation sheave is vertically guided with respect to the shaft bottom via a guiding structure, which allows a vertical movement of the axis of the compensation sheave. The guiding structure includes at least one scissor joint arrangement having its lower end adapted to be connected with an elevator shaft bottom and its upper end being connected with the compensation sheave axis. An elevator includes such kind of compensation device. Vertical movement of the axis of a compensation sheave can be obtained with a very low shaft height requirement.

Diverting pulley arrangement of an elevator, which includes an axle, at least one diverting pulley that rotates while supported on the axle, a faceplate structure, in relation to which and supported by which the diverting pulley is arranged to rotate on the first side of the faceplate structure, which axle is locked so that it does not rotate in relation to the faceplate structure by the aid of a locking element, which locking element is on the second side of the faceplate structure and supported so that it does not move in relation to the faceplate structure. The locking element is placed against the locking surface included in the axle so that the contact point of the locking element and the locking surface of the axle is at least partly visible.

Diverting pulley arrangement and elevator

A method for controlling an elevator installed in a building that includes an elevator car arranged to travel in a hoistway between floor landings that are at different heights, one or more ropings connected to the elevator car, a hoisting machine for moving the elevator car, and a control for control the hoisting machine is provided. In the method, the sway data of the building is determined, which data describes the strength of the sway of the building, and the starting position data of the elevator car is determined, which starting position data contains data about the starting position of the elevator car and/or data about how long the elevator car has been in the starting position, and the settings for the run speed of the next run are determined on the basis of the starting position data and the sway data. An elevator is configured to perform the method.
